The Fire That Lights the Darkness
Posted by appolus on May 28, 2008
If it was not for this fire, that rages in the night
This blood that runs like molten to my soul
I would fall into the darkness, never more to fight
My light would be consumed and the dark would take its toll

False Prophets (Written in 2004)
Posted by appolus on May 27, 2008
In August 17th, 1999, an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude hit Kocaeli Turkey. It lasted for 45 seconds and when the dust finally cleared, 17,000 people were dead. In the later investigation, it was found that many of the deaths occurred because building codes were not adhered to and therefore the buildings collapsed needlessly. The Contractors responsible were charged with murder.

Can You See Him In The Fire?
Posted by appolus on May 24, 2008
Listen guys, maybe you’re in the fire today. I have no answers as to why or how long, but this I know,……………look…………Jesus is in the fire with you. This fire is not for your destruction, even although the enemy would like you to think otherwise. Take your eyes of the circumstances, take your eyes of the flames, allow the doubts and fears to melt away in the flames. Let the flames, that were meant for your destruction by the enemy, burn up the fears and the doubts as you turn towards Jesus.

I Will Never Leave You Nor Forsake You!
Posted by appolus on May 19, 2008
The Lord is good and He is faithful. We are never tempted more than we are able and when the enemy comes in like a flood, then He raises up a standard. A standard is the colors of a regiment, like a flag.
The Lord has promised that His banner over us is Love. Just when Satan was proudly surveying Calvary, chest puffed out in pride at the damage and death he has inflicted on the Son of God, through the mist and confusion he suddenly sees the banner flying high over that terrible scene. It is the banner of Love that has conquered all and declares victory in the midst of seeming defeat.
How often in our lives do we come to the very edge of defeat, the end of ourselves and all our strengths and it is then that we are flooded with the Grace of God that raises us up, above the battlefield where we lay injured and defeated in the flesh. Our flesh has an end but our spirit is victorious through the blood of the Lamb, we become overcomers because He overcame, “Be of good cheer, for I have overcame the world.”
It is to this promise that we cling, we trust in the Lord with an unconditional trust. A trust that cannot see ahead, a trust that does not know what tomorrow brings. We only know that tomorrow belongs to Him and that tomorrow , He holds our hand. “Lift up your eyes and see who has created all these things. Who brings out the host by number and knows them all by name. By the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one is missing.” The stars in heaven undoubtedly declare the glory of the living God, yet we too, brothers and sisters in Christ, are the host of heaven, we declare His glory, He knows our names and not one of us is forgotten…………praise His marvelous name, that name which is above every other, Jesus your name is High and lifted up to the glory of God the Father.

The Spirit of Conviction
Posted by appolus on May 14, 2008
It is a great wonder that some of the most riveting and memorable stories in the Bible are not about “good folk.” The Lord had came down from heaven to highlight love and grace and mercy and redemption. How better to do that than on the canvas of some of the greatest sinners. Against the blackness of these lives we see the brilliance and the total majesty of grace. When one goes into a jewelers and looks at diamonds, most times they are shown against black velvet. The blackness of the background only highlights the beauty and perfection of the gems. In much the same way Jesus chose those folk with black backgrounds to highlight the utter beauty of a love that ignores the vileness of the gutter, the sewers of life, to demonstrate the indescribable grace and mercy of God .He would not only condescend to come to a dark earth, but would go right into the hells of our society, not with condemnation but with open loving forgiving arm. Praise God I speak not from theory.

A Word from God (Go Beyond what you Know)
Posted by appolus on May 11, 2008
Each human is a vast unexplored universe. Only I have the ability to navigate the human heart and map it. Without the navigator, without the map all is chaos and darkness. Without the ship of God and Jesus the Captain, you will only ever stare at the horizon of your souls and be fearful of what lies beyond. Read the rest of this entry »

I Bore You on Eagles Wings
Posted by appolus on May 7, 2008
Learning to trust in God relies upon us not knowing what is going to happen next. Yet the tyranny of fear means that we will cling to any man who promises us results in the midst of seeming defeat. Even our own hearts deceive us. What makes perfect sense to us, does not always play out as many could testify to. We learn to trust God and exercise faith at the highest level when we do not know if we will be healed, or where we are going or what is going to happen next. Read the rest of this entry »

Woe unto the pastors, for the church is dead!
Posted by appolus on May 4, 2008
Now that we are relatively few in the world, he is coming after us. Most of us have been captured and imprisoned. Many of us have already been killed. The world was plunged into chaos and the genuine Christians were blamed for most of the evils. We would not compromise. We refused to drop the name “Jesus,” from our prayers Read the rest of this entry »

A Word from the Lord
Posted by appolus on April 25, 2008
“Do you not know that I am the God that searches your heart? There are no walls around my church. There are walls that surround your hearts. These walls are made of other gods. Behind these walls, in the garden of your heart, lie idols of gold & mammon and every foul thing My Word warns you clearly about. Where is My precious Son Jesus? Is there any room left for Him in your hearts or has He been relegated to just another idol?

My Testimony “The Valley of Achor.” (Lengthy)
Posted by appolus on April 25, 2008
When there was no food on the table, she told us that we had to believe and that the Lord would provide, and then we would hear a letter dropping. We would rush to the door and there would be an envelope with money in it. We found out years later that a wonderful woman in Christ would often be led by Jesus to put her tithe in an envelope and drop it through our door. No name, just obedience to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

A Broken heart replaced
Posted by appolus on April 25, 2008
These are two poems that speak of my journey form being the child of an alcoholic, to being one myself, to coming to Christ. And the glorious liberty that I found in the day that I called out to Him and He came to me, right where I was in all my sin and filth. I try to decribe the shame and the guilt and the heart of a young child being crushed by a cruel, lost father.

The Candle
Posted by appolus on April 24, 2008
My mother was talking to a new convert in Scoltand. She asked the lady, who did not have a church background ,how it felt. This lady did not have any “Christianeze,” with which to reply, she simply stated “Its as if someone has lit a candle and placed it in my chest.” That inspired me to write this poem 🙂
The Candle
Oh hallelujah, who lit the candle
Oh hallelujah my Savior it be
Oh hallelujah may this candle forever
Burn gloriously and brightly deep within me
For I was a sinner, so cold and rejected
No light in my tunnel that I could see
Then the candle was lit and the darkness was vanquished
And now and forever in His arms I will be
The things of this world no longer enthrall
I’m walking and talking and living with He
The one from above, my Savior , my Jesus
He died in my place that I may be free
Though the wind is still blowing, often times howling
And the storm clouds gather to come against me
I’ll stand on the Rock, my eyes towards heaven
And the candle , yes the candle’s still burning in me
So we praise you for the candle, most Holy Father
Glorious Jesus , forever you’ll be
Higher than the heavens , enthroned in your glory
For you are the candle that burns brightly in me
(is your candle still burning?)

What is Faith? Do you have it?
Posted by appolus on April 22, 2008
What if one of your children becomes very ill? What if one of your loved ones is diagnosed with cancer? All of a sudden, what seemed like a complicated life, suddenly becomes very simple, we now focus like a laser, on what really matters. Things that seemed important the day before, now are no longer afforded even a thought as we cry out to God for that which presses on our souls and that which has consumed us.

The Trial of Your Faith
Posted by appolus on April 22, 2008
There is no easy solution or fix to the “Dark night of the soul.” If you will be a warrior in the army of the Lord you will certainly go through basic training that will make the training of today’s special forces seem like a picnic.

Our Attitude is the Key to Life
Posted by appolus on April 21, 2008
The unique thing about Christians is that we start our Christians lives in victory, the victory of Calvary where the Lord made an open shame of the enemy and defeated him on the cross. That is our starting point, our South Pole. Just as Amundsen raced back from the Pole towards glory and triumph, so we too as Christians race toward the Glory of the living God, an eternal glory that rises majestically above any glory man could ever bestow. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
Posted by appolus on April 9, 2008
“It was this experience, twelve years later and in a state of alcoholic and drugged desperation, that I remembered. I thought about the love that I had felt all those years ago when the Lord had took over me for a few moments, I thought about the witness of my mother, who continued on with Christ despite all her many trials, I thought about the love and the peace and the tranquility of that moment that I had felt, and suddenly I longed for a safe harbor from the raging storms of my mind. I decided to find Jesus and ask Him to take my life, such as it was. I did find Him, He did take it and now, 18 years after that I have been priveleged to walk beside Him.”

Martin Luther King
Posted by appolus on April 4, 2008
I have a dream this day. I dream that men and woman of God around the world would rise up and take their rightful place in the Kingdom of God. If that means death to the flesh, or perhaps even literal death, then is it not better to die for our God in the glorious cause of freedom than to live out our lives in mediocrity? Better to only live one more day, but live that day a free man, than to live forty more years in the shadow of fear. Better to die in the street a chain breaker, than to be found cowering behind the door with a gun, ready to shoot anyone who “tries to get me and mine.”

Peace like a River
Posted by appolus on April 3, 2008
My peace is like a river
Winding slowly to the sea
My heart is deeper than the oceon
Filled with love He gave to me
Oh love that knows no ending
Rise up and set me free
I shall sail forever on this oceon
Forever, ever closer unto thee
Fill my sails oh precious Jesus
Wind of the Spirit propel me on
Over seas of tranquil beauty
To the horizon and beyond
I have sailed through stormy waters
When all my days had turned to night
I have sailed though windless days
Often tempted, tired, and no more fight
Sometimes the sun it seems to set
And we fight the rising tide
Of fear and darkness and regret
Yet thou art always by my side
So sail on my heart, to journey’s end
Sail on into the night
And neither wind nor rain nor stormy seas
Shall diminish the morning light
