What is church?

Posted by appolus on March 29, 2017

A long time ago the “Church,” was redefined by men as something separate from the people. They created a building and a system and they called it their own. This is always the folly of men. Consider this, consider what men would do with this. Say, we had in our possession , the bush that burned and the sand that surrounded it when Moses encountered the Lord.It would be venerated and visited by the masses of people and it would be worshiped. Yet all it would be would be a bush and some sand. It is the presence of God that makes the ground Holy, whether it is a bush, some sand, a building , a living room, a basement. God dwells within His people. They are the Church. They are living stones, built upon the chief stone, the cornerstone. When two or three of them gather together, then He is there in the midst of them.

Two or three brothers and sisters. Not one, for one can worship and pray alone and come before the throne, but to the two or three there lies the promise. This corporate presence of God is unique and beautiful and Holy and majestic. It cannot be compared. It cannot because it was created that way, praise the Lord. Now if I know that and you know that then the enemy of our souls knows that too. This, I would charge, would become one of his greatest tasks, to destroy genuine gatherings of the saints. He has had much success but has ultimately failed. Just when he thinks he has down a wonderful job, then God begins to call all His children all over the world, His remnant children to come together for these, the final days.

What seems like the enemy’s greatest victory will become his ultimate defeat. As the saints begin to gather in defiance of his works, then he will reveal himself and come against them with hell and all of it’s fury. And then, in the midst of all of that, the Bridegroom returns for His bride. The lion of Judah returns and He rides, not on a donkey but on a stallion. Not now as the Lamb but as the Lion. He comes to bring justice and judgement. There will be a fire in His eyes and a two edged sword in His mouth, glory to God, glory to God.

Being eaten alive

Posted by appolus on March 22, 2017

I think one of the worse fears that human beings have, and it is a primal thing, is to be eaten alive. It is really why we have this “fight or flight,” reaction that is programmed into our DNA. The chances of the average human being today being eaten alive is almost zero but we still have our fight or flight protection built into who we are.

Now there is a spiritual equivalent to being eaten alive. It is very possible that we have someone in our lives who have the capacity to tear at our souls and eat us alive from the inside out. This is a great danger and takes the wisdom and strength of God Himself through the power of the Holy Spirit to deal with. If you are dealing with that today. If there is someone in your life that is ripping away at your very soul and the essence of who you are then my prayer for you today is to take up the shield of faith.

This shield is more real than any human shield that has been used in warfare for centuries. This is a shield that exists in the Kingdom of God in which we walk. And if we use it, if we pick it up, it will protect us from the fiery darts of an enemy who, if allowed, will tear your heart to pieces. The enemy uses people as arrows and he never misses the unprotected.

These arrows are not just arrows, which would be deadly enough, they are fiery arrows intended not just to kill and destroy but to burn. This fire, brothers and sisters, is quenched by the living waters that flows from the throne room of God. Come to God today before His throne, put the fire out, take up the shield of faith and stand in the evil day. May God bless you and be with you in the battle.

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Low hanging fruit

Posted by appolus on March 20, 2017

Is there fruit hanging from your branches? Has the life of Christ in you welled up from the depths of your spirit and produced fruit that others can identify and partake of? You have heard the saying that the fruit identifies the root. If others were looking at you, would they know what kind of tree that you were by the fruit that they could see? There is one thing about the life of Christ, it is unmistakable. It radiates, it produces passion, people can even see it on your face. It wells up in us. As God pours in His living waters into the very depths ow who we are, as the life of Christ bubbles up in us, it has to have an expression.

Artists must paint, singers must sing, musicians must play, sculptors must sculpt and writers must write. It is so vital to who they are, they are just out of sorts if they are not able to have an outlet for the passions that they were born with. It is not even something that they have any control over. If the life of Christ was born into the very depths of who we are it must and will have an expression. The creator of all things, dwelling in you, will love others, will comfort others, will share the truth with others. To those who have Christ living in them, to talk about the one they love is to turn their light on. Only as they are giving expression to that life that is in them are they truly alive.

Decorate your dwelling place

Posted by appolus on March 4, 2017

How many of us know that the Temples of old were magnificently adorned? The way men glorify their status and power and signify their wealth is to be found in their dwelling places. The richer a man is, the more elaborate is his surroundings. He fills his house with symbols of his wealth and status. The man of God also decorates his temple, the temple of the Holy Spirit, with riches. His dwelling place will be no less elaborate that the richest men of the earth. He will decorate his temple with the finest gold of unconditional love. His walls are encrusted with the jewels of forgiveness and mercy. His windows are draped with opulent coverings of meekness and humility. Trophies of grace hang on every wall. They are framed with the finest materials of patience and kindness. Have you decorated your heart, the dwelling place of the Lord, with such treasures? Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Glory to God on high.

Posted by appolus on March 4, 2017

Glory to God in the highest!

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. (Eph 1:16-19)

I give thanks this morning for the Body of Christ, the saints around the world, His remnant people. There is one thing that I have noticed as I have met genuine saints from every conceivable background. They have ” eyes of understanding.” Not head knowledge, but eyes of understanding. Notice what Paul is praying for here; that they may have a deeper wisdom, a deeper revelation, an understanding that is more enlightened. His focus for the saints is that they have an even greater revelation of the riches of our inheritance. Is that how we pray today brothers and sisters? Do we have our eyes of understanding so focused on the riches of His glory that our prayers for the saints is that their understanding of the riches of His glory simply increases? Very rarely if ever do we see the Apostles pray for an alleviation of circumstances, no we see that the prayers are for a greater revelation of the glory of God and the eternal world to come. It is in this revelation that we are empowered to stand in the midst of any circumstances.

Too often the prayers of the saints are focused on the alleviation of the immediate physical circumstances, not realizing that the true power of those who walk the Kingdom walk, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit, lies not in an alleviation of circumstances but an elevation of Spiritual awareness. And who gives us this elevation of Spiritual awareness? β€œThe Father of Glory.” The very essence of glory, glory itself. God the Father is not glorious, He is glory itself. Just a glimpse of His glory elevates us high above the circumstances of our lives. We see this when Peter steps out of the boat in the midst of a raging storm. As His eyes are focused upon God, He is elevated above the storm. That which was sent to destroy him, now simply becomes a vehicle to bring glory to God. Right now, in the midst of your circumstances, what would bring God the most glory? We already know that God can calm any raging storm at any time, yet He bids us come up higher for His glories sake. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. While they rage with all of their fury, we sit in peace in His presence and this confounds the enemy of our souls and brings glory to God, and in this, goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our lives.
