“All of these men and many more had one thing in common. They all were conquerors. They literally laid their lives on the line and most of them were actually killed. Do we have what it takes to stand up and be counted? Would we be willing, like these men, to put our lives on the line for truth, to stand in the gap? ” Read the rest of this entry »

“There is a coming storm for Christians. We have pursued the things of the world. We have striven after material blessings, we have sought to establish our peace and our standing in life in the abundance of material possesions. Now the Lord is ready to release us from Babylon. We ,as a people, are looking very worldy. The coming storm is going to strip that all away. Praise God that He is not finished with His people.”

“Is there a reason why the Church today is so anemic? What is missing from us that makes us so like the world? What is the answer to the fact that the modern day church is not walking in the power of God? We see so many dynamic personalities, but we see so little of the Holy Spirit.” Read the rest of this entry »

“For too long we, as people of God, as the called out people have only entered into “His courts with thanksgiving and into His gates with praise.” And while there is great emphasis in ancient Israel for worship of joyful abandon and gladness, this was not the only “mood,” of worship. Even prior to Jesus manifesting Himself on the earth there was a worship of awe and of reverence where one could barely lift their heads. The power would fall, the shekinah glory of the living God would fall with such a “Holy heaviness,” that one could barely lift their heads.”

“What are today’s giants? What is it today that Christians are most fearful of, fears that condemn them to forever wander in a desert that at least they know? I would put it to you that amongst the fears that torture today’s Christians are sicknesses, diseases, sufferings, death, insecurity in regard to money. There is a whole industry to pamper to weak Christians who disgrace their warrior King of Calvary.”

“You are infused by Him and by being infused by Him, by consuming Him, by being consumed by Him, you are changed by Him. And you become more like Him and worship Him more and you read the Word more and you pray more and you weep more and you live more and you love more. You are more compassionate and you are more joyful and more grateful and more thankful and you witness more, not out of compunction, but out of necessity because your bones burn within you. Your heart is on fire, your whole body glows in the residue of your encounter. You are infused by Him and it makes you diffuse the fragrance of His knowledge in every place(2 Cor 2:14)”

“And so the word without Jesus is empty and meaningless to the readers. It is in the person of Jesus that we are saved, and then He illuminates the word. The word of God must never be worshipped, how silly to worship the description rather that what is described. All of the word of God is useful to point us towards God, but it is only in His presence that anything is achieved. A man could read the sermon on the mount and rightly conclude that this was a masterpiece of teaching. Yet, outside of Gods presence, outside of His Spirit, all those who try and live by these commands will fail miserably or have some success and become self-righteous.”

She put her head back against the wall and looking upwards told me that she was in no position to even try and refuse this. She was blown away that God had answered her and her husbands prayer so immediately (she did not know that I had messed around for several week) She could not wait to get home and share this with her husband. Higher critics could explain this in the natural, but the supernatural is God talking to His people, directing them and of course, His perfect timing.

“I believe that we are living in exceedingly “lean ,” times in the church because the Lord is giving us over to the desires of our hearts, what a price to pay! True treasure is the presence of the Lord. True treasure is the gifts of the Lord in operation in our lives and in our Churches. When my wife and I were married at 17 and were homeless and pregnant(we ended up in the Salvation Army’s shelter for battered woman ) my abiding memory of those difficult times was that “nothing matters as long as we are together.”

“There is a time for shouting and praising God, but if we are ignoring the knocking, then we must stop shouting. If our lives are not reflecting the Glory of God, if we are not becoming like His Son, daily, then all of our shouting and praising God will just be so much noise. How tragic for the church of the living God if, when He looks down, He does not see praise but just a group of people making a noise.”
