FifteenΒ years ago, just six weeks after my son Daniel was born, and just two years after coming to know Jesus, the doctors made a pronouncement to me that many people fear. I was told, after blood tests, x-rays, cat scans and finally a lung biopsy, that I had an incurable disease. One-third of each lung was covered with irreversible fibrosis, a disease known as Pulmonary fibrosis. There is a coming movement of God. We , as the Church, seem to go through periods that reflect the children of Israel. What happened to the Israelites every time that they prospered? They grew self- dependent and moved far from God. Captivity always seemed to follow. The world, whether it was the Medes or the Persians or indeed the Babylonians, would conquer Israel.

“After many years of violence and terror, one particular night seemed to draw all the demonic forces together. My father, always highly unpredictable, seemed to have lost his mind this night. He was laughing hysterically and then crying, and all the time holding my mother by the back of the hair and pounding her face with his fist. She just kept repeating βJesus loves you, Jesus loves you.β My sister was in the corner of the room screaming. I stood behind my dad, frozen in terror. Even prior to Jesus manifesting Himself on the earth there was a worship of awe and of reverence where one could barely lift their heads. The power would fall, the shekinah glory of the living God would fall with such a βHoly heaviness,β that one could barely lift their heads.”

Gods Plan Will Not Be Thwarted

“How many of us have suffered from paralysis of analysis? We are so unsure of Gods will for our life that we that we cannot discern our way ahead. We are afraid that if we do not hear an audible voice, or even a small still voice then we could make a mistake and if we step outside of His plan, then we face ruin and attack from an enemy just waiting to pounce. Its hard to imagine that the Royal Priesthood could suffer such bondage from the father of lies.”

“I believe that we are living in exceedingly βlean ,β times in the church because the Lord is giving us over to the desires of our hearts, what a price to pay! True treasure is the presence of the Lord. True treasure is the gifts of the Lord in operation in our lives and in our Churches. When my wife and I were married at 17 and were homeless and pregnant(we ended up in the Salvation Armyβs shelter for battered woman ) my abiding memory of those difficult times was that βnothing matters as long as we are together.β
