And the pages of history turn

Posted by appolus on June 27, 2015

scriptureThe ruling of the Supreme Court will challenge every aspect of our faith and we will be the better for it, stronger refined and more confident in what we believe. For those whose faith is built upon anything less that Christ Himself, then they will be swept away by the flood and the cultural winds that are now blowing at hurricane strength.

Now why would I say that the cultural winds are blowing at hurricane strength? Has there not always been societal pressures in the West, cultural aspects of who we are that challenge our walk with God and our witness to our communities? In fact, the subject of marriage is one aspect of the culture in the west that has continually brought shame on what is known as Christendom. The truth is, the Christian community  has remained silent to a great extent on the fact that in so many churches up and down the land, 40-50% of their congregation are divorced. That alone disqualifies us from speaking from a position of authority on the subject. We do not hold the moral high ground on this subject and ours sins have found us out. God is not mocked, that which a man sows or winks at, he reaps. We are reaping today.

And so, judgment begins at the house of the Lord and this judgement comes in the form of persecution. This has been the story of Christendom down through the ages. Christendom as a whole becomes corrupt and the Body of Christ separates itself from what she considers to be compromised. The Body of Christ then suffers persecution from the world and the culture that corrupted the visible church and then from the visible church itself. We are moving into those days now.

Yet something is very different about our age. That is why I entitled the piece ” And the pages of history turn.” What we are now seeing is the world and much of the visible church not only secretly and hypocritically practicing the sins of the culture at large, we are now seeing them celebrate sin and openly encouraging corruption. Can I suggest that this is a new state of affairs and one that directly precedes the return of the Lord? Can I further suggest that a complete separation from such corruption is imminent. I believe this will happen because despite the dark days of corruption that are upon us, there are saints in every village and every town and city in the land. God has His saints who will not bow their knees to the cultural gods of this world. There is an army of millions of saints waiting to glorify God. Now there are many more millions of false professors but I am writing to the saints.

Here is what the Lord has shown me brothers and sisters. It may be difficult to accept but I want to encourage you. He has shown me that the saints today in the west are as strong as any saints that have ever lived. And why? Because the same Spirit that dwelt in the Apostles, the early Church, the Martyrs down through the ages, dwells in us. What separates us from them is merely opportunity or circumstances. And it looks very likely that circumstances  are going to produce opportunities. Opportunities to do what? To stand strong. To be a witness in the final days of the ages. To love our enemies and to do good to those who oppress us. To be filled by the Spirit as much as any saints have ever been filled. To walk in the power of God. You see, the glorious stories of miracles and power that we read of rested upon an oppressed and persecuted Church. The enemy came in like a flood and God raised up a standard. Darkness threatened to consume and the light of Christ poured in like rivers of living waters to fill the saints to overflowing. If we are about to face the greatest evil of all time and the greatest persecution that the Body of Christ has ever known, and I believe that we are, then the greater the darkness the greater the power of God demonstrated in and through His saints.

We are very possibly that generation brothers and sisters. Not something to be feared but something to glory in. To know that God’s grace and mercy and power is sufficient for us means that the greater the evil poured out upon the land, the greater the demonstration of Gods power in the land. For as we know, the gates of hell shall not prevail against the saints. This means that no matter the force that comes against us, greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. We shall be a demonstration of love and power to the world, a witness to the whole world, and then the end shall come. We shall be and are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Persecution cannot. Principalities and powers cannot. Hell and all its fury cannot. Gross darkness and wickedness cannot. For those who stand in Christ stand on a foundation that cannot be shaken. Even though they break our bodies, we shall stand whole in Christ. Even though they throw us into prison we shall be Christ’s free men and free women. Even if they take everything from us, we shall be found in Him to be the richest people on earth. And even if they take our lives we shall be alive in Christ Jesus for all eternity. Stand fast brothers and sisters for tomorrow does not bring us fear, it brings us one day closer to the glorious return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus, that name which is above every name. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven above and on the earth below and beneath the earth and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord to the glory of God the Father!!!

Hi Frank, it’s quite the “coincidence” that one of the links below this present message (in which you speak of “the cultural winds that are now blowing at hurricane strength”) is to a previous message of yours called “There is coming a cultural hurricane.”

For those who want a taste of what is coming, read the vicious comments towards Christians below the news stories on the U.S. supreme court’s decision to legalize gay marriage. (It’s already been legal in Canada for ten years, actually.)

Brother Frank, you have hit the proverbial nail on the head! Christendom, and the church, have very little authority to talk concerning marriage. We haven’t held marriage in high esteem and now we suddenly want to talk about it in terms of gay marriage? If we would have held traditional marriage sacred then we would have had a much stronger leg to stand on concerning what has just happened from the SCOTUS. Hurricane winds are blowing indeed!

This “rich” message is such a blessing today. Thank you so much for obeying and sharing.

When I go on an airplane, the attendant says “Put your own oxygen mask on first and then help the person next to you.” This is good Holy Spirit advice. If I do not have Holy Spirit flow, then y’all theology is impotent. That is what christendom is today – y’all theology. If I, like the Pharisees, do not apply God’s word to me, I die from a lack of spiritual oxygen. “Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and not do what I say?” Luke 6:46
Good Word Brother Frank. I no longer have a burden for the “gentiles”. I do not read anywhere Jesus condemns a gentile.. Instead, I have a burden for the church. The Bible is all about God’s people, and God’s leaders who do not trust Him and believe in His power – and we, on the resurrection side of the Bible, have the Holy Spirit today! No excuse for saltless Christians.
