Your Worship, is it merely Noise?

Posted by appolus on June 27, 2008

There is a time for shouting and praising God, but if we are ignoring the knocking, then we must stop shouting. If our lives are not reflecting the Glory of God, if we are not becoming like His Son, daily, then all of our shouting and praising God will just be so much noise. How tragic for the church of the living God if, when He looks down, He does not see praise but just a group of people making a noise.”

YOUR WORSHIP, IS IT MERELY NOISE?

“Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:19-21)

There are many Scriptures that are commonly misquoted and taken out of context. There is a saying amongst those who seriously study the word ” a text without a context becomes a pretext.” This Scripture quoted above is one such Scripture. How many of us have shared the Scripture above in regard to the unsaved? This Scripture, in actual fact, pictures the Lord seeking entrance into His own church for the purpose of renewed fellowship.

How sad and tragic that our Lord Jesus would have to stand outside of our lives, outside of His own peoples heart and church and knock continually and be ignored, be left standing outside the door. How many times in the world have we been going about our business in our own houses and suddenly realize that there is someone standing on our doorstep?

If you have been in your own house and see someone standing at your door as you passed, you quickly open the door and apologize and ask the person how long they have been standing there. Would it not be tragic if there is the person of Jesus standing outside of the innermost parts of our hearts and His knocking goes unheard? How is it that we cannot hear Him? It clearly says that He is knocking. Perhaps the things of the world, the cares of the day have dulled our hearing?

It is interesting that in the very next chapter , actually two sentences later the letter continues and says “After these things I looked and behold a door standing open in Heaven.” This is the same door brothers and sisters. This is the door that the Lord wants you to open, come with me and see what the Scripture says lies beyond the door that the Lord wants you to open today, right now. ………..

“Immediately I was in the Spirit and behold a throne set in heaven and One sat on the Throne.
Oh brothers and sisters, we are in the very throne room of God, we have stepped into the innermost sanctuary of the mighty God of all creation. Can I suggest to you that in this place you will fall on your face? That the awe and the majesty and the trembling power of that place will completely take you over and you will cry “Holy holy holy . Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.”

When we, as “living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,” we will find ourselves “Casting down our crowns before the throne saying You are worthy Oh Lord to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they exist and were created.”

For too long we, as people of God, as the called out people have only entered into “His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.” And while there is great emphasis in ancient Israel for worship of joyful abandon and gladness, this was not the only “mood,” of worship. Even prior to Jesus manifesting Himself on the earth there was a worship of awe and of reverence where one could barely lift their heads. The power would fall, the shekinah glory of the living God would fall with such a “Holy heaviness,” that one could barely lift their heads.

If we are to move to a different place in God, as individuals and as a called out people, we must answer the knock at the door of our hearts. In order to hear that knocking we must abandon the “cares of the world. Instead of seeking the treasures of the world, we must turn our eyes to the treasures of heaven and its throne room. If we are to hear God, we must become silent before Him. We are moving into a time where it will be vital to be intimate with Him.

There is a time for shouting and praising God, but if we are ignoring the knocking, then we must stop shouting. If our lives are not reflecting the Glory of God, if we are not becoming like His Son, daily, then all of our shouting and praising God will just be so much noise. How tragic for the church of the living God if, when He looks down, He does not see praise but just a group of people making a noise.

Dear Lord and Father, in the name of our precious Lord and Savior Jesus, we repent this day and ask that you forgive us. We have had a form of Godliness, we have had a reputation of being alive, but now we want nothing more than to reflect the glory of the throne room of heaven.

We want to enter into this place, this place of most intimate worship that compels us, necessitates us to fall to the floor and cry Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy are you Lord in all the earth and we worship you. And when, for practical purposes, we get back to our feet, then let us be changed by the very presence of you in the most intimate parts of us.

And from the very core of our being let that change radiate outwards, let us take that change, that power, that presence back out into the world of darkness and let that light so shine before men who dwell in darkness that they run to you. Fire in our hearts from the throne room of heaven. Living coals received into supernatural hearts, hearts prepared to receive such coals.

No longer does the coals of fire burn our lips but it burns at the very center of our beings. Oh Lord I hear you knocking, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is knocking on my door? I can scarcely believe how honored I am, how privileged I am that you would knock on the door of one such as I.

“2Sa 9:8 And he bowed himself and said, What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?” Lord you restored everything to Mephibosheth, a lame man in hiding, and invited him to dine with you every day, I ask that you would restore us, your people, to the banqueting table of your presence and I thank you that your banner over us is love.

    Misconceptions
I am amazed at how many people perceive the account of how the devil told Jesus that he owns all the kingdoms of the world, and that he would give them to Jesus, if Jesus would bow down and worship him. Many believe that indeed the devil owns and rules this world, have they not read the words of Jesus, that the devil is the father of lies. What a huge misconception this is for Christians who believe these lies.
Do you remember how God had to put right Nebuchadnezzar’s foolishness by giving him a message from angelic beings called watchers and holy ones in the book of Daniel, ch 4 v 17.
I quote, “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living my know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and He gives it to whomsoever He will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”
Now you can see that the wicked one rules and owns nothing on this earth, he may lie to men like Nebuchadnezzar, and other evil rulers of this world, but they all come to a very sorry end indeed. History has proved it over and over again, so do not be deceived when you see evil men in power, for surely in a little while they shall be no more. Let us always remember that God rules in heaven and on earth and gives it to whoever He wants to. Psalm 83 v 18, “That men may know that thou whose name alone is Jehovah art the most High over all the earth.”

I’m preaching on the cleansing of the temple in Mark’s Gospel, and your words fit into the sermon very well. Interesting.

HI Dan…thanks for dropping by , I appreciate your comment. I suppose if one looks at the American Church from afar, they may see lots of green leaves, but upon closer inspection, there is no fruit. Likewise, men and women seem to pass through the church and be unaffected. Merely a shortcut to where they are going, a neccacerary part of their life, but not an intimate part. One can pass through the outer courts and be completely unaffected, it is only those who go into and dwell in the inner sactums, the Holy of Holy’s that are changed………….Frank

(Pls replace 1st entry.)I’m concerned about the comment by Evan. Billy on misconceptions. When Adam decided against God, he gave his inheritance to Satan. Jesus had to come to complete the work of perfection. He said His kingdom was not of this world. The world and everything that is in it is slated for destruction because of the devil’s contamination. The church is part of God’s rescue mission and the establishment of the ultimate kingdom shall replace the devil driven kingdoms and systems of the world. That entry is a deception. A lie, 9 times out of 10 is a distortion of truth. Spiritual things are spiritually discerned.

I believe that true worship comes out of a heart focussed on God. In primary school we learnt that empty barrels make the most noise. I believe that spiritual communion is a deep personal relationship with God but there is a place and occasion for noising abroad the praise of almighty God. David was completely beside himself dancing before the Lord.

Hi Mike… I agree with you my friend. You wrote “Jesus had to come to complete the work of perfection. He said His kingdom was not of this world.” Amen brother. There is a Kingdom coming, the seeds of it has begun in our hearts, the completion of it will be when we see the “New Jerusalem.”

There is a distortion of the Gospel going on , mostly in Pentecostal circles, but also in the mainstream church. It is broadly known as “Dominion theology.” They believe that the world is theirs and they are to take it back. You see it in many circles, especially in Africa. This theology particularly appeals to the “health and wealth,” people, the word of faith movement. Very sad.

There is a time for dancing and celebrating the goodness of God personally and corporately. Corporately we should be in a time of mourning and crying out to God and asking Him for help. If His people, who are called by His name would humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then perhaps the Lord, in His mercy and grace, would hear from heaven and heal our lands…….Frank

I have read entries that say that T.D. Jakes, Benny Hinn, Kobus, and some others I have genuinely admired as having the truth, are false prophets or teachers. Can you help me with that, Frank? What is your website?

HI Mike…if you read my post “Casting your treasures into the fire,” you will see that I was making the point that one does not necessarily have to be a “false prophet,” in order to lead people atray. Although, the names that you mentioned I would say “peddler of the gospel,” would be more appropriate. Peddlers are not necessarily touting a totaly false gospel, many aspects of what they teach can be perfectly correct and people can be saved and so on, but they do it all for fame and fortune. You see Mike, their are servants of God and their are vehicles of God. God can use both. One gets their reward right here on earth, the desires of their hearts, the other, the servant, gets his reward in eternity. Should one follow a “peddler,” absolutely not. If the Lord reveals these people for what they are, then one should not promote or follow them . I believe that all peddlers will be exposed in the near future for what they are. Will many still follow them? Yes. Did many continue to “rise up and play,” in the desert even after Moses returns in Exodus 32? Yes. Moses had to make a call for people to come and stand with him. The priests stepped forward and 3000 were killed that day. The lord had sent a “plague,’ on them. The call is going out today. We have to choose who we will stand with, and I believe, because the Bible only says “if it were possible, even the elect would be deceived,” that the priests of God(that is every genuine believer) will step forward, for, ultimately, it will not be possible to deceive the elect………Frank
