Is it just me or do we not sing songs of victory any more? There is so much joy in declaring the victory of Jesus. I think it will be hard for you to read the hymns below and not touch some of the glory of God. There was a time when the people of Israel were in a bad place and their enemies taunted them……
There we sat down by the rivers of Babylon; also, we wept when we remembered Zion. We hung our lyres on the willows in its midst. For there our captors demanded a song from us; and our plunderers demanded gladness, saying, Sing us oneof the songs of Zion.ย (psa 137:1-3)ย Oh the power that we now have through our Lord Jesus Christ, to turn right around to the enemy and begin to sing the glories of the living God in the very midst of our circumstances. We will not hang ourย harps upon the willow trees, meaning that we lay down the means by which we praise God. With the high praises of God in our mouths we shall march onward unto cannan land, whether that march leads us down the narrow path or the darkest valley, we shall fear no evil!
The desert sand is shifting, the mountain rocks are melting, the sea-beds are deepening, the whole earth is groaning and travailing and man sets his targets on change. My people, set your focus on Me, for I will set My Son upon the clouds and He will come as the fulfilment of all things. Man can stand on the top of Everest and see the curvature of the earth and gasp. Men can stand on the moon, look back at the beauty of the earth and gasp. But the man who can stand upon the horizon of eternity and glimpse the majesty and immensityย of God, his gasp is the sound of him being ruined for this life.ย
Is evangelicalism the newest form of “Religion”? Perhaps its always been a religion? Or perhaps it morphed into religion? Whatever the case, it is clear that it is truly a sub-culture. Genuine Christianity has always been a counter-culture. Right from the beginning, those who had encountered God were radically transformed. What they had may not have been perfect, but they were never accused of looking like the world. The world knew who they were, they always knew who they were. They were a ” peculiar,” people. They were out of step with the world. They ran counter to the culture.ย
A lot of people probably read some of the writings on this website and
wonder, โWhere is all this headed? What is the goal?โ A glib answer might
be- โWe want to get back to real โNew Testamentโ Christianity.โ But what
exactly does that look like?
We will not have had the fullness of the Spiritโs outpouring until
baptized people separate themselves completely from the world.
We must emphasize separation and purity of heart. The purpose
of the Spiritโs coming is to sanctify and prepare a people for the
Lordโs return, a people without spot or wrinkle.
Saints, I am convinced that there is a mighty battle going on right now, even as we speak. I believe that this battle will soon overflow from the spiritual realm into this physical realm. And we know from Scripture that our battle is against principalities and powers, against the worlds rulers, against the darkness of this age and against spiritual wickedness in high places. (eph 6:12) I am convinced that theย saints that have been called to pray and intercede are experiencing trials and tribulations like never before because of this very battle. It may be in the mind and it may have physical manifestations or probably both. Now is the time for steadfastness. Now is the time to prevail and overcome. Now is not the time to shrink back although the flesh may cry out for that.
Gods remnant people are being called to stand like Christ in the wilderness, refusing all worldy help, waiting on the hand of God to move. We will learn to be the people who can say “But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up” Loving not our lives unto death!!!Read the rest of this entry »
The Most High does not dwell in Temples made with hands.โ God was not behind the veil, hidden and inaccessible to man, look!!!!!! The presence of God was hung high upon a tree , humbled and naked for all the world to see. The presence of God is Jesus and Jesus is the door to His people and the door leads directly into the holy of holyโs, Gods own throne-room where Jesus stands at the right hand of the Father. The brother that delivered this message is one of my best friends and is a passionate man of God. We will be having a series of meetings next month in Oklahoma, in a small town called Barnsdall. If the Lord leads, please join us there. The meetings will run from the 14th to the 19th. We will start the day with a prayer meeting and then go out onto the streets. We will have a service every evening in the old cinema downtown Barnsdall starting at 7pm.
Do you know what is wrong with us as a Church today? We are taking ourselves for granted. We are assuming that which may not be true at all; that which is founded upon wishful hoping and not upon sound Biblical experience in many cases. We have not been disturbed enough. We have not allowed God to plough furrows on our backs. We have not dared to go before God and have the examination made. We are afraid of what God will find , and we would rather wait. Therefore we have waited and settled down. There has always been a small remnant and they have been in the midst of all the rest. A million might wish with their lips and worship with their lips, but only a small fragment truly worship in their hearts in a way that honors and pleases God. We do not need to imagine it as an indication of vast spiritual or high degree of holiness when we see a church door open and multitudes spew out on the sidewalk. Follow them home. Follow them a half a block and see how they live. That is the way to tell. “Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them'( Matt 7:20)
There is a great multitude today who are desperately hungry and thirsty. All over the world the people dwell in great darkness and the darkness increases every day. Hell has opened its vaults and is beginning to spew out evil with increasing speed and urgency because it knows its time is short. There is desperate darkness coming and it is coming at us with alarming speed. Yet, as in the time of Noah, the world is ignorant of the impending disaster about to befall it. Like the children of Israel when Jesus says ” O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!”
Last Sunday a journalist from a local paper came along to do a story about these people in the barn. Turns out she was an atheist. She ended up spending several hours. She seemed to enjoy it and told them that those three hours seemed like one. The story that she ended up writing, which was on the front page, ended up being a favorable one. It was entitled ” Humble beginnings.” Read the rest of this entry »
Too often, and for too long, American “Christianity” has been a political agenda in search of a gospel useful enough to accommodate it. There is a liberation theology of the Left, and there is also a liberation theology of the Right, and both are at heart mammon worship. The liberation theology of the Left often wants a Barabbas, to fight off the oppressors as though our ultimate problem were the reign of Rome and not the reign of death. The liberation theology of the Right wants a golden calf, to represent religion and to remind us of all the economic security we had in Egypt. Both want a Caesar or a Pharaoh, not a Messiah.
There is coming a time, and we may be there already, when God is calling His people, His remnant people, who have experienced the presence of God, to rise up and testify to it. To testify of what they know of Him. Of how they come into the presence of a Holy and majestic God, of how it ruins them and changes them, of how they tremble before the throne of the almighty God. This is what the people are starved of, this is what they are dying of thirst from. There is a famine of the Word of God in the land, not the Word preached, but the Word preached with the power and the presence of God. The crisis of the age is a lack of God’s empowering presence in our assemblies.
And so I was like a pioneer back in the wagon trail days. I had started a journey, which by the way typically started at a town in Missouri called, of all names, Independence. I traveled through different rugged States, overcame deserts and rivers and mountains which were called anger and fears and lusts and insecurity, and I finally came to a vast ocean. I found many camps there, all up and down the coast. Different camps of Christianity. They had all found their way here because they had followed trails. And yet their destiny lay beyond the horizon of this sea called “Dependence.” Read the rest of this entry »
ย The Remant man or woman carries their cross. Carrying a cross is a lonely business. Its their very lonliness that compels them to seek an even closer walk with the Lord. The trials of the cross, the narrowness of the path, the desert and wilderness that often stretches out before you, a lack of fitting in, no ackowledgement of anything that you do, what you do you do in secret, you only seek to see the Lord high and lifted up.
Can I suggest brothers and sisters that the Lord is weeping today over His church, His bride? Can it be possible that all day long the Lord cries out to us and we are ignoring Him? Can it be possible that He walks amongst us and we are so dead in our religion that we fail to see Him. Is He not knocking on the doors of our heart? What a tragedy that the Lord Himself is knocking on the doors of His Church and the knocking goes unanswered because we are too busy with the cares of this world to have the time to seek Him and to answer the knocking. We are so pre-occupied with the business of the world, we are so distracted that we cannot see that even now as you read this, the enemies of Godโs people are encompassing us, on every side. Shall we too miss โ the time of our visitation?โ
My question to the Lord’s children, the Lord’s Church, is, will you arise and go down to the Potters house? Will you come to the Father and place yourself in His hand? Will you allow yourself to be marred, to be ruined for this world? Can you abandon yourself to His wheel and allow Him to create in you what He will? For He will not force you , He will not make you, but He will stand at the door of your heart and knock. Will you come to Him, with the fullness of your life, holding nothing back and allow Him to mar you, to ruin you? Will you step up to the door and open up your heart Read the rest of this entry »
