Babylon is falling.

Posted by appolus on March 5, 2022

There is a tectonic shift taking place in the realms of spiritual darkness and the prophetic calendar. The plates and the under-girdings of the world as we know it are moving. I wrote last week about the word the Lord gave me about a singular disaster that is about to change everything. https://acalltotheremnant.com/2022/02/26/a-word-from-the-lord-a-singular-disaster/  There is a new world order incubating, and following its birth it will come forth and be the deadliest enemy of the saints. All of the religions of the world will fall in line and form the great whore church.

In the run up to the WW1 we see rising and declining empires. When this happens huge wars typically follow. The 19th and 20th Century saw it all. There was the Napoleonic wars, where Napoleon sweeps across Europe, ultimately destroyed by the Russian winter. The American civil war where 600,000 were killed and slavery abolished. There was the Austrian Hungarian Empire (the old so called Holy Roman Empire) The Prussian and the Russian Empires. The British Empire of course and the Ottoman Turks. Towards the end of the 19th century we see many of these empires compete against each other while some were in decline and others were rising. At the same time the Industrial revolution was in full swing and science and technology were exploding. Automatic weapons of all kinds, and mechanized weapons were invented, and of course chemical warfare. All would be used in the coming war of the empires.

We face such a time once again. The empires are different yet in many ways still the same. We have what is left of the old Soviet Union. The Americans, The West and of course, China. Some are on the rise, well at least one. Most of the rest are in some stage of decline whether militarily, economically and certainly morally. A moral collapse has left them weak and vulnerable. We too in our age have seen a revolution, computers and technology has far outstripped anything that we saw in the last two centuries combined. Weapons of mass destruction and chemical weapons and biological weapons. Information  has risen to dizzying heights as one of the greatest of all weapons of all. Yet, just like our ghosts from the past, we will use all the weapons at our disposal as well. It is what we do, we are fallen.

When the smoke clears and the plates stop shifting, this world will have given itself over to a reprobate mind. War shall be openly declared on the saints, not the religious, the saints. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations (Rev 13:7) Only those who walk in the Spirit will survive spiritually intact. They may be martyred, but they will pass through the fire with Jesus. In order to find gold in the earth a massive amount of earth has to be moved. It is referred to as overburden. Heaven and earth shall be moved and the saints will be brought forth. The great sifting and separating. Fires and floods, we shall walk through them all with Christ in us the hope of glory. Stand strong saints, in the power of His might. He is coming soon.

The beginning of the end has come-a word from the Lord.

Posted by appolus on February 23, 2022

The ultimate judgement of God and the ruin of man is when God gives a person or nations up to their own uncleanness that flows from the lusts of their own hearts. They are consumed by their vile affections, so we are told in Romans chapter one. The morning has come for the nations and the day shall have its end. The rising sun of the morning casts a light upon their corruption. It is clearly seen. No longer is it hidden in the shadows. It does not skulk in the dark recesses of the alleyways. Rather, it marches boldly down Main St. It celebrates its sin openly and brazenly and not content with that, compels others to bow before it and acknowledge it as their own.

A disaster, a singular disaster is at the door (Ezek 7:5) and it will effect all of the nations. It is the beginning of the end when this disaster strikes. God will not spare, the nations shall know that He is the God who strikes. Pride budded on the rod and now it has come into full bloom. There is no longer any pretense. God is wholly and fully rejected by the nations. Once they had for a pretense an honor of God but now the halls of their power, their institutions and all their ways have become corrupted. It is one thing to conspire in the shadows, it is quite another to break into open rebellion and raise an angry mocking fist at God. And therefore God will strike, He will rob the rebels of hope and they will be overtaken with fear. Their legs will not work under them for fear and they will not be able to run or stand and fight.

Men have always sought solace in the usual hiding places. They hide within the confines of their own bravery. In their pride they hide. In rebellion and hope for tomorrow they find their last stand, but they cannot stand from the God that can and will strip them of all of these things. They have put much stock in their wealth and their prosperity. They have built castle after castle with them. Yet one by one these castles will fall as the sanctuary of their wealth is taken from them. Up to this point it has been the solid ground upon which they stood, now the very ground beneath them shall give way. In that day it will be better to have “fields of corn rather than mines of gold.” Their gold will be useless to them.

Men seek no messenger to rebuke them of their sin rather they seek council from lying prophets who will tell them what they want to hear, for a price. And these prophets promise them peace but peace shall not come. Men have despised God with rebellion and mixture, mixture being a thing that God despises. Therefore in the coming days of their calamity there shall be no help from God for He is the author of that very calamity and those who speak against it speak against God. The kings of the world shall mourn and its princes shall be dismayed but they will not repent. Rather they shall turn on God’s remnant saints. This singular disaster shall usher in the days of the great tribulation. There shall be no pre-tribulation rapture. They shall make war on the saints and the saints shall be overcome as they fall into their hands (Rev 13:7)

Yet take comfort in this brothers and sisters, the Lord Himself shall be with us in the midst of the fire. Our tormentors shall look and see and know that Christ is in us and with us. The whole world shall look and see that Christ is in us. As we are martyred then we shall be a witness to the whole world. Those who endure to the end shall be saved. The world will witness Christ in us and their guilt shall be sealed. The Kingdom shall be demonstrated to all the world as a witness and then the end shall come (Matt 24:14)

Who will stand?

Posted by appolus on January 15, 2022

A number of years ago I came across the story of the Decian persecution of Christians while I was doing research for a book I was writing. I did not include this in the book but it is interesting to consider the facts. Decian was the Roman Emperor in 250 ad. He issued an edict that required everyone in the Roman empire to perform a sacrifice. The sacrifice was to be made to the Roman gods, and also included a loyalty oath towards his rule as Emperor. (See above image) The sacrifice had to be carried out before a Roman magistrate who would then sign a certificate which would allow them to carry on with whatever business they were involved with. This certificate would enable them to buy or sell.

The particular region I was studying was Carthage. It was expected that there would be great resistance to this from the Christian community and indeed this was part of the motivation for the decree in the first place. Imprisonment and death were the penalties for those who refused to participate in the sacrifice. The Carthaginian authorities settled on the days that the city was to participate. They were totally taken by surprise by the large numbers of “Christians,’ who rushed to “get their certificate.” They had to extend the time they had allotted for the sacrifices and certificate signing.

Out of the group that refused to be involved in sacrificing to gods, many were martyred, others were imprisoned and still others went into hiding. Interestingly, at the same time as this “empire wide,” persecution, a plague had broken out and was killing up to five thousand Romans per day. This only added to the hatred of Christians as they were deemed to be in some way responsible for this. And so, when this particular persecution ended, there was a great deal of tension between those who had stood their ground for Jesus and those who had capitulated in order to save themselves.

This was not the first time this had happened, nor would it be the last. The Diocletian persecution would be the most intense staring at around 300ad and last for around a decade. Again the spit would happen. A large majority would capitulate and deny the faith, the smaller minority would be killed, imprisoned or flee. When the smoke cleared from this latest persecution, the larger group that had capitulated to the state would be the group favored by Constantine. No surprise that the Emperor would choose the group who he could count on to bow the knee to him and the State. That group were the Catholics. The minority group, the group that had refused to hand over their scriptures to the State and to bow the knee, were known as “Donatists.’ They refused to acknowledge anyone who had capitulated to Rome as a Christian. For this they were hunted down and killed.

I would just like to say that some things never change. There is and always has been a large group, a majority group, within the world that identifies itself as Christian, that will not “stand in the evil day.” It is such an evil day that separates the sheep from the goats. It is the storm that tests the foundations of the house. It is not what a man or woman calls themselves that counts for anything, it is who they actually are. Those who have received the love of the truth, who are genuinely born again, will stand in that day. They will be martyred, they will be imprisoned or they will flee. What they will not do, what they could never do, what they have never done, is to deny their Lord. As it was, so it always shall be until that glorious day when Christ returns.

I plead with you.

Posted by appolus on January 11, 2022

2Co 6:1  We then, as workers together with him, plead with you that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

Paul cries out to the Corinthians here in this portion of the letter. He starts the chapter by pleading with them not to receive the grace of God in vain. That is a very stern warning. You get the feeling Paul is about to really share with the Corinthians some very hard truths. He then describes the life of those who minister for the cause of Christ. Here is the list from verses 4-6. Tribulations, needs, distresses, stripes, imprisonments, tumults, labors, sleeplessness and fastings. Here is how we arm ourselves against such things according to Paul…..purity, knowledge, longsuffering, kindness, the Holy Spirit, sincere love, the word of truth, the power of God and by the armor of righteousness.

What a list brothers and sisters. What a description of what it means to follow the Lord and to suffer for His sake. And even although you will have honor in the Kingdom, you will be dis-honored here on earth. You will have a good report in the heavenlies, but in the world, an evil report. You will walk in truth but be known as deceivers. You will be unknown in this world yet well known in the Kingdom of God. It will appear as though you are dying due to your many tribulations, but you will be alive in Christ. Your situation may cause some to feel sorrow for you but you yourself will be rejoicing. It may appear that you are poor and have nothing but you enrich the saints in the Kingdom. It looks like you have nothing but you have gained eternal riches.

This is the path of the saints, few there are that find it. Paul urges us to have fellowship with like-minded people and not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? What communion could light possibly have with darkness? The saints are the temple of the Living God and there can be no quarter given to idols. God has promised to “dwell in them and walk among them, I will be their God and they shall be my people.” In a world where the vast majority of those who attend assemblies are mere professors and identify themselves by their unrighteousness, we are told to “come out from among them and be separate and do not touch what is unclean says the Lord.” And to those who follow this command the promise of the Lord is that “I will be a Father to you and you shall be my sons and daughters.” Stand strong saints, for His grace in you is not in vain.

When the prophets are no longer silenced!

Shall He find faith on the earth?

Posted by appolus on December 27, 2021

Dan 12:7 ….and when the power of the holy people have been completely shattered all these things shall be finished.

In Daniel chapter 12 we see the prophecy of the end times. by the angel. There will be a “time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation.” At the end of all of that there shall be a great deliverance for “everyone who is found written in the book.” Yet first there will be a “complete shattering.” The identifying aspects of this time, according to the angel is “many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall increase.” The phrase here used in the scriptures “to and from,” means to travel. So, a time when travel is greatly increased and knowledge is greatly increased. I would like to suggest that this is the time in which we live.

All of this prophecy takes place on a river bank. One angel on one side, the second angel on the other side and the “man clothed in linen who was above the waters of the river.” This “man,” is certainly Christ. And the question asked of the Christ is “how long.” And we see that the sign of the end of the ages is much knowledge, much travel and a complete shattering of the holy people whose names are written in the book. The saints are the holy people. The book is the book of life and now is the season. In Matt 24:3 we hear this similar question asked of Jesus “Tell us when will these things be? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age.” The disciples are asking this question of the man who they had personally saw walking above the waters.

And in verse nine Jesus says that they “will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you and you will be hated by all nations for my namesake.” In Rev 13:7 we are told that at the end of ages “it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them……….all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world.” The power of the holy people will be completely shattered. The devil shall prevail against them….for a time. In that time saints, this is when the faith that our lives are founded upon and the freedom that we have been granted, will be tested.

I am writing this to the overcomer’s. To the holy people of God.To those who will endure to the end, the very end. The wisdom of God shall cause you to “shine, like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.” (Dan 12:3) The man of Linen stood above the waters. The Lord Jesus stood above the waters. When the storm was raging and the waters very tumultuous, Christ was above it and He calls us to rise above the stormy waters in faith. It seems certain that Isaac would die and Abraham’s vision and promise from God would be shattered, but not so. It seemed certain that the Son of man was dead and buried and the promises of God dead and buried with Him, but not so. It will seem certain that the Holy people and the power of God is defeated, but not so. Wait, saints, wait…..wait….overcome….endure….be refined in the fires of affliction and shine like the stars in heaven, for the Son of man shall find faith on this earth when He returns.

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (Luk 18:7-8)

When God weeps for man.

Posted by appolus on December 21, 2021

Isa 22:13 Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

In the beginning of this chapter we see these first words “The burden against the Valley of vision.” What is this valley of vision? It is Jerusalem, surrounded by mountains and filled with prophets. A once bustling prosperous city, now quieted by the march of the Assyrians. The streets are no longer bustling with commerce, everyone has taken to their rooftops to contemplate their fate as the Assyrians devastate the surrounding regions and other nations. The valley of vision would soon become the valley of decision. What would they decide? Would they weep and mourn for the coming judgement or would they throw all caution to the wind and “eat and drink for tomorrow we die.” This is the cry of mockers down through the ages and when a nation or nations take up that mantle then the end is surely in sight.

Paul says in 1 Cor 15:32 “If the dead do not rise let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die.” If there is no resurrection, if there be no eternal life, if Christ was but a man who died, then this life and this life alone is all that matters. And if that were true then why would the inhabitants of the earth not make every attempt to live their best lives now? Can I argue dear saint that this is exactly the state of the world? And what a great tragedy that in a nation of vision, meaning a nation that knows the truth, that has been taught the truth, that has indeed been blessed by the truth, that this very nation would be the foremost nation in eating and drinking and being merry for they see no eternal tomorrow.

Isa 22:2 “Your slain men are not slain by the sword.” Imagine the horror of being dead but not being dead. It is said that the brave man dies one but the coward dies a thousand times. Our nation is a nation of slain men. Fear stalks the streets. A virus has shut down our commerce andour industry but its not really the virus at all that has shut the wheels of commerce down, it is the fear that stalks men’s hearts, they die every day. Cowards led by cowards. Men without faith, men given over to the world, men who should know better. The Assyrians drew ever closer to Jerusalem and commerce began to dry up and food became scarce in the cities. Can you see it saints? Can you see the hearts of men today?

Now after all of this men should contemplate their fate. They should call out to God. They should fall on their faces in mourning and weeping and repentance. The should decide. They have the Word, they have the Truth among them, now, shall they weep? God calls for weeping and for mourning but strangely He hears joy and gladness. Not the joy and gladness of a people at rest and at peace with God, but the kind of joy that comes when men have thrown of God and made a decision about their fate. They shall eat, they shall drink and the drink will cause the fool to be merry even as that same fool stands under the shadow of the gathering clouds.

Joel 2:1 Blow a ram’s horn in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. For the day of Jehovah comes, for it is near at hand.

So brothers and sisters, do likewise. Blow the trumpet. In Joel’s day they lost everything to a devastating plague of locusts. Not an ordinary plague, a devastating supernatural plague designed to call the people to repentance. In the last 20 years we have seen 9/11, a tsunami that was unknown in our times or our history books, Hurricane Katrina and then a financial meltdown that took the world to the brink. We have had wars in the middle east and now a pandemic. In Joel’s day they had just over 30 years before they were invaded and destroyed. They did not heed this warning from the prophet or even the judgment. They managed to get back on their feet again, just in time to be destroyed. We are laboring under the same illusion, just trying to get back to “normal.’ The decision is this. Weep and mourn and cry out to the Living God, or eat and drink and be merry for tomorrow we die. You shall surely die for all men die, but the fool dies eternally.

Could the Chinese be the Assyrians? Could America be swept up in civil war? I hear the howls of protest. “We have fortified our walls, we are too strong.” “We are far too sophisticated to ever again be destroyed by civil war.” Wrong on both accounts. There is no “fortifications,’ that cannot be brought down. Isa 19:14  The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit. Even now the hearts of Americans are turned on each other. How much more would it take for them to tear themselves apart? It is mere pride that says these things can never be. Think of how it staggered the minds of the Apostles to learn that not one stone would be left un-turned in the destruction of Jerusalem. And Jesus wept. It is better for men to weep over their own fate for in the weeping they may find a way back to God. But when God weeps for man……woe is man. Decide today whom you will serve.

The coming glory of God’s house.

Posted by appolus on December 5, 2021

Haggai 2:3a Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory?

Here we see in Haggai a reference to the “second,” temple, the one that would be rebuilt. The first temple had been destroyed and Israel was taken captive to Babylon. Now, several decades later, a “remnant,” had returned. When given the opportunity, about a third left the comfort and the relative luxury of Babylon to return to Jerusalem. They of course found the temple broken down and it was in their hearts to rebuild it. Most of them knew nothing of the glory of the temple in its original splendor. They had heard tales of course, but the reality of what they found and the hostile nature of the territory meant that for almost twenty years, little to no progress was made in the rebuilding of the temple. The people were too busy living their own lives and attending to their own house-holds to attend to the temple.

In our day, brothers and sisters, we too have a remnant. We too live in a hostile environment. We are often too busy to be invested in the Body of Christ, the true and living temple. Who among us can remember a day when you walked into a gathering and the presence of the Lord was so evident that you dare not speak, not even whisper? There was an “awareness,” of His glory. There was no need for dimmed lights and smoke machines. His presence compelled you to your knees. Nobody had to tell you to raise your hands, they simply took their rightful place, aloft and surrendered to the glory. There was a “holy heaviness,” where one could barely lift their heads. Tentatively a song would rise from a lowly saint and then the whole congregation would join in as waves of glory would wash over them until a word would come forward, a testimony, a scripture and the waves would continue to come.

The Lord says to the people of Haggai “so my Spirit remains among you, do not fear…..once more I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and the dry land, and I will shake all the nations………and I will fill this temple with glory….the silver is Mine and the gold is Mine…..the glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former….. and in this place I shall give peace.” (Haggai 6-9) God is raising up a temple here in these last days, a temple built without human hands and He shall fill this temple with such glory that it shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Out of this temple shall flow the knowledge of the glory of God. His peace shall rest upon His people even as they are surrounded by hostility. The greater glory of the Lord as manifested to men still remains to be seen. We, brothers and sisters, are living stones in that very temple. Rejoice and be glad today for the Bridegroom cometh for the Bride and the temple is being made ready.

Our role in the coming days.

Posted by appolus on December 1, 2021

The Body of Christ, has not changed down through the centuries, always at her core she has been called to be a witness, an eye-witness to God’s glory. This is the essential heartbeat of Gods Remnant bride and always will be. In this role she has been used as a sanctuary, the sanctuary, the Holy of Holy’s. She is a tabernacle in the wilderness, she is Gods temple here on earth. At the same time she has always been despised by the religious spirit because she speaks truth to power. In these last days God says in His word through His prophet Zechariah that ” In that last day a fountain shall be opened up for the house of David,” and God Himself says again through the prophet that ( speaking of Christendom) “Two thirds in it shall be cut off and die. But one-third shall be left in it. I will bring the one-third through the fire, I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name and I will answer them. I will say ” This is my people.” (Zec 13:8-9)

And so we see that a fountain shall be opened in that day for the house of David. Can you imagine how welcome a fountain would be in the midst of a dry and thirsty land, a land racked with drought and famine? I want us, as we consider the role of the remnant, the Body of Christ, in the last days, to look at two men of God and see what parallels we can draw. Let’s look at Noah and as we look let’s think about the context of the time in which he lived. It’s a time and a place of great wickedness and as we know, there would only be a tiny fraction saved. Noah is commissioned to build an ark over a long period of time. Now, we know that Noah faced ridicule and scorn. First of all what he was building have never been built before. Secondly, rain had never fallen from the sky and the notion that the whole earth would be covered by a flood was preposterous to all who lived then.

Every day Noah’s hammer could be heard, every day the ark took shape and was rising up. The continuous hammering would have been a great source of irritation to all around him. Noah would have to keep building despite the ridicule and the scorn and the anger because the rain was surely coming and he was being obedient to his calling. We too as Gods remnant people have to keep true to what the Lord has called us to. We are also in the ark business. There was one place of salvation when the rains of judgment began to fall, it was the ark. Can I put it to you brothers and sisters that the remnant church of God is God’s ark built by the hands of Jesus.

With the judgments beginning to fall, with the beginning of the birth pangs, it will become apparent that God has a people who have not bowed the knee to Baal. God is getting ready to reveal His ark by bringing judgment and allowing the rise of the anti-christ. This ark will be a witness to the glory of God and His way of escape. This ark will be used as a last chance for the un-redeemed of the world to be saved before final judgment. This ark will be revealed to the world by isolation and persecution, all of the world will see this ark and they will be without excuse when that day comes, for this ark is the glory of Christ here on the earth and He reveals Himself through what He has built.

Now lets consider Joseph and consider the context and the back-drop of his day. Here we have Joseph who has been called to save a remnant. “And God sent me before you to save a Remnant in the earth and to save your life by a great deliverance.” ( Gen 45:7) Before Joseph could do this he had to be scorned and ridiculed by his own. Because of dreams and visions that scorn turned to anger and hatred. He was then rejected and sold into slavery. He becomes a slave and then is wrongfully accused and ends up in prison, seeming forgotten and forsaken. Yet, God of course had never left him. This is part of the remnant path. Many will relate even as they read this. Yet God had not forsaken Joseph and even in prison Joseph moved in the supernatural and he found God’s favor. He was able to interpret dreams and visions and this would lead him to see that a great famine was coming upon the land. He was able to make provisions that would save “A Remnant in the earth.”

Can you see the pattern behind this brothers and sisters? Can you relate to the suffering and the rejection and the seeming forsakeness that Joseph surely felt as he languished in the prison, far from home and separated from everything he knew? The pattern is that when there is great judgment coming upon the land, God has a people or a person whom He will send ahead to enable whoever will, to escape that judgment. God has created such a vehicle in His remnant. And they too, just like Joseph, must be despised and rejected by the very one’s they have been sent to save. Of course, this is the divine pattern. We see our Lord Jesus walk down this path. He came from the glories of heaven and the right hand of the Father, emptying Himself and humbling Himself in order to walk amongst those who He had come to save, yet He became despised and reject, tortured and killed.

And now with the final judgment fast approaching, the ark which Jesus has been building for 2000 years is almost ready. God’s remnant church from every possible background and across all denominational lines ( artificial walls built by men and not by God) down through the last 2000 years have been scorned, ridiculed hated and despised and hunted down and killed and almost all of this was done by ” their own.” Their own being people who would profess God with their lips but their hearts are far from Him. Yet God in His mercy will reach out and continue to reach out through His Body while there is yet life in them. A witness until the very end. A faithful Body and a people without excuse.

The Body of Christ is everywhere. It is in every village, every town , every city and every nation on the earth. There are countless millions of Gods own children around the world. For the most part they are swallowed up in Christendom with its multiplicity of divisions and man made walls. Yet, the closer to Christ’s return the more and more difficulty the Body of Christ will find within the dwelling places and kingdoms of men. Could a saint really stay within the confines of any organisation that has corrupted itself with the world? This will be the ever increasing pressure that will be brought to bear on the saints in the coming days. Only the individual saint can answer this question for his her self. The Word of God and the Holy Spirit must be a lamp unto our feet. Too many men’s discernment comes from what other men have spoken. As the darkness increases our need for the light that shines forth from the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit who gives us not only revelation but inspiration only becomes greater and greater.

We have a God who will never leave us nor forsake us. We must trust Him with our whole hearts. No matter how scary things become, in fact because of what is to come, we must trust Him with our whole hearts and follow His lead even if we cannot see the bigger picture. The Word of God and His doctrines were written to be understood by even the simplest among us, in fact God delights in confounding the wise by the simple. The doctrines of men are generally complicated and confusing. Stay with the Word, lean upon the Holy Spirit for understanding and insight and revelation of Christ’s glory and do all of this with your whole heart and you will not go far wrong. He did not leave us as orphans, praise God, we have a Father in heaven whom we can call Abba and He will lead and guide His children through not only good times but through the darkest valleys and the narrowest portions of the path that leads back home.

How then shall the just live?

Posted by appolus on November 30, 2021

Habak 1:4 For the wicked surround the righteous, therefore perverse judgments proceed.

When the law is powerless and justice never goes forth, we know that we are living in similar days to Habakkuk. The nation of Judah was in its “death throes,” having been warned repeatedly and having ignored every warning. I put it to you brothers and sisters that we are in similar death throes. Our nation and indeed the nations of the world sink deeper. And the Lord says that “I will work a work in your days which you would not believe though it were told you.” This work will be a terrifying work.

This vision was yet for an appointed time. Woe to the earth when the Lord marches across its lengths. Yet in the midst of this great wickedness that brings this vision into being we are told that the just shall live by faith. We shall trust the Lord brothers and sisters as we see these things unfold. Our lives shall be lived solely in trust of Him. When all the world is shaking, then the just shall stand on solid ground. And all the world will be amazed to see such a people living in such a manner. The whole earth shall “be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” Christ will manifest Himself through His people, the people who dwell in great darkness shall see this light. In wrath He shall remember mercy.

When God comes forth in such a manner then the heavens shall be covered by His glory and the earth shall be full of His praise. Before Him goes pestilence and fever follows at His feet. He measures the earth and it is found wanting and the nations are startled. In a moment of time their millennia of delusions vanish away and the everlasting mountains are scattered and the perpetual hills bow down. The deep utters its voice and lifts its hands on high. In indignation the Lord marches through the earth. Yet, the just shall be found trusting in God and standing on Holy ground. In the day of troubles they shall be at rest.

Though the fig tree may not blossom in that day, nor shall their be found fruit on the vines, though the labor of the olive may fail and the fields yield no food and though the flock may be cut of from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls , I will yet rejoice in the Lord, I will find joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, He will make my feet like the deer’s feet, He will make me to walk on the high hills (Hab 3:17-19) Brothers and sisters, let us walk on the high hills of His presence and lift our eyes to the heavens for they are covered by His glory as the earth too is covered by the same glory as the waters cover the sea.

From now on, even forever!

Posted by appolus on November 28, 2021

Micah 4:6-7 In that day says the Lord I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast, and those whom I have afflicted. I will make the lame the remnant and the outcast a strong nation. So the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion, from now on, even forever.

Who are the lame, brothers and sisters? Who are the outcasts? Who are the afflicted? God’s children. Who wants to join that club? Surely we shall not be stampeded on by the masses yearning to take their place with the lame, the outcast and the afflicted? It’s the genius of God. He will identify with those who identify with the sufferings of Jesus. For you see brothers and sister how not many mighty are called, not many wise, not many noble shall take their place with the lame, the outcast and the afflicted.

And yet we are on a headlong collision with a set of circumstances that will put all of that to the test. Will be willing to become lame for the sake of Jesus? Will we take our place with the outcasts in a world that daily is becoming more and more restrictive? And the greatest challenge of all, shall we take our place in the ranks of God’s afflicted? Yes, God afflicts His people for His own purposes. Yes, this is violently opposed by the flesh. Yet the same God who allowed His only beloved Son to be afflicted, for the worlds sake and for His glory, will allow His servants to be afflicted for the same reasons. Shall you glorify God?

This is the mark of the remnant people of God. God has chosen the weak things of this world to confound the mighty. Shall you yield to the Spirit? Will you surrender to a God that very possibly shall call you to Martyrdom? We have raised multiple generations to believe that the Lord’s design is that we should live our best lives now. Oh saints, is not the opposite true when we consider the world’s definition of what it means to “live your best life now?” Our best life now is to serve and glorify God in the midst of a wicked and adulterous generation. If suffering brings glory to God shall we not rejoice in our sufferings? If being an outcast from this world brings glory to God shall we not take our place with the ranks of the outcast? If being afflicted by God for reasons known only to Him brings glory to God shall we not glorify God? It is these saints that the Lord shall reign over from now on, even forever.

Is there any left?

Posted by appolus on November 18, 2021

Amo 6:12  Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen?

What rocks is here being discussed? The hard hearts of men who would not listen to correction. Rather than allowing their hearts to be tilled and to be plowed, they resisted the work of the Holy Spirit. They resisted to such a point that now their “houses,” great or small, would be broken into little pieces. Their hardness would condemn them to barrenness. Nothing would grow in a field full of rocks. I would now like to compare this scene from Amos to modern day Christendom. The word of God stands as it always has. It is unmovable. Who can stand under its shadow and deny it? Who would dare to do such a thing? Only the hardest of hearts would resist and replace its teaching with their own vain traditions. And in the end, these hard hearts are broken down into pieces and lay scattered in the field. What can a horse do in such a field? What could an ox do is such a field? There is no plowing of such a field.

In this place, in these places, in those hearts, the sun shall shall go down at noon. In broad daylight there shall suddenly be darkness. Their celebrations will turn to mourning and their songs of praise shall turn into songs of lamentation. A famine shall fall upon such a land. It shall not be a famine of bread, for they will have bread in abundance. Nor shall there be a drought, they shall have an abundance of water. The famine shall fall upon their hearts which shall make it impossible to hear the word of the Lord. They shall go to great lengths to call down God. The music shall increase but God shall not hear their praises. They shall fall back upon the traditions of their ancestors and they shall find no comfort there, only the smoke from the fire of their own making. They will pronounce this smoke to be the presence of the Lord, but of course it is not.

Who would make themselves an enemy of God? When God strikes the doorposts and the thresholds shake who will flee from God in that day? The Lord God Himself says this, listen and tremble “Though they dig into hell, from there My hand shall take them.” He goes on to relay to man that even if he ascends into the heavens they shall be brought back down, if they descend to the bottom of the sea, even there God will reach them. God says “I will set my eyes on them.” And this was not for good. God reminds men that it is He, who if He just touched the earth, it would melt. This is the God of all creation who is speaking. He who formed the layers of the sky and founded the strata of the earth, who calls forth the waters of the sea and it comes running at His command.

Yet despite all of this, there is a people who God will raise up from the midst of this. He will raise up the tabernacle of David. The Church militant will once again dwell in the tabernacle, the place of meeting. This place has been all but abandoned. We have built a thousand thousand temples and God does not dwell in the temples built by man rather He dwells in the tabernacle with His bride. His tabernacle is the gathering of the saints who gather in His name. Now remember you cannot gather in the name of Jesus if that name is not above every other name in your life. He is the preeminent One and He joins Himself with those with whom He is preeminent. This is the tabernacle raised. And the fruit of these gatherings shall abound, as opposed to the barren rock filled fields of the houses of men.

Oh brothers and sisters, listen to what the Lord says as a promise…. “the days are coming when the plowman shall overtake the reapers and the treader of grapes shall be overtaken by him who sows seed, the mountains shall drip with sweet wine and the hills shall flow with it.” This reminds me of psalm 133 where the oil flows abundantly and the blessings of life fall heavily upon everything like the dew that would fall upon the mountains. You see what is being said? The man who plows the field shall come upon the reapers of the harvest that was so great that that it was still being gathered when it was time to sow again. A great abundance. This is what awaits the saints. Gather together saints, with other saints, who will raise the banner of the Lord Jesus Christ high above everything, who will stand upon the Word of God and the Word of God alone, who have abandoned the vain and empty traditions of men. For the Bridegroom comes and He shall find His Bride made ready.

In the shadow of His presence.

Posted by appolus on October 26, 2021

Hos:5:6b But they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

It is one thing to fall into iniquity, it is another thing to fall in your iniquity. To fall from the grace of God is to seek another hand to raise you up. When calamity falls upon a person or a community or a nation, whom shall they call out to? To those who call out to God alone He shall lift them up. If you seek the Lord with a divided heart you will not find Him. He will have withdrawn Himself. The world has not sought God in the day of their calamity, they have sought to walk in the precepts of their own humanity. What a tragedy. This is the prelude to judgement. God withdraws.

Saint, we must not go down that road. We must trust in the Lord our God. We know that in our lives there has been times when we have quenched the Holy Spirit. David cries out to God in that most holy of Psalms “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.” What an anguished cry from David in psalm 51. Only those hearts who know the Lord in intimacy and who are baptized in His Holy Spirit could ever understand what it means. To lose the joy of His presence, to consider eve for a moment that we have displeased the One that we love causes us great anxiety. In those situations we have to seek Him out with everything that is in us and fall down before Him in that most Holy of places, the throne of grace and find our restoration.

The nations that have named the name of Jesus have dealt treacherously with the Lord. Their condemnation is just and the judgement that shall begin with them is just and Holy. As for the saints of God there is healing in His presence. We draw near to Him and He draws near to us. We humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord and He raises us up. We seek only Him. We have no other lovers to run after unlike those who declare His statutes and hold His covenants in their mouths in unrighteousness because they hate His word and despise His correction. Yet, His children shall call upon Him in the days of their troubles and He will deliver them and cover them under the shadow of His wing. The dwelling place.

The grapes of wrath are being trampled.

Posted by appolus on September 23, 2021

In the last few days I have mentioned to some people that my friend just died. Normally that kind of statement elicits some kind of reply like “I’m so sorry for your loss.” Not in the days we are living. The first question is “was it Covid” And the second question is “was he vaccinated.” And when they hear he was not vaccinated you get something like “uh huh.” No sorry for your loss, no sympathy at all, just smug validation of their own particular bias. Imagine someone told me that their friend died and instead of saying how sorry I was I ask a series of questions. And depending on how they answer those questions will determine my response. Was he fat? Was he a smoker? Did he drink? According to this new standard, if they answer yes to any of these questions my reply will be “uh huh.” Well he should not have been so fat. That’s what you get if your a drinker. Smokers deserve to die. Horrifying, right?

Now the people that I mentioned it to happened to be of a certain political persuasion. My friends and my Christian brothers and sisters reacted in what we would consider to be normal. They sympathized. Not these folks. Their souls have been eaten away by politics and ideology. Ironically it would be they who would would have formally talked about having to have compassion. And they would accuse others of having no compassion. They would talk about virtuous things and charity and the need for more charity. Except of course for unborn children. And in the end, those who have such disdain for the unborn easily switch to having disdain for the lives of those whom they disagree with politically. I used to wonder how so much of German society was given over to murderous madness. How could there be so little sympathy for their fellow human beings? I am seeing the seeds of that human catastrophe beginning to break through.

Consider what the Doctor in my friends case said to his wife, a dying man mind you, on the phone. He told her that her husband was going to die and he deserved to die. And, he said, he probably infected others before he came in here. Lest she have any hope, he told her that a 35 year old man came in at the same time as her husband and he was already dead. In defense of her husband, the wife said he had merely exercised his constitutional rights in not getting vaccinated. To this the doctor told her that they had no rights. He told her that if she had TB, he would have her held down and he would inject into her whatever he damn well pleased(his words) and only then would he let her up. The wife was totally frantic at the notion that this monster was in charge of her husbands health. All of this because she dared to suggest a drug called Ivermectin for her dying husband. He told her she was a conspiracy theorist. The hospital removed him from the case the following morning.

I want to suggest to you dear reader that there is a level of animosity in America that is reaching critical mass in regard to the soul. There is something in the atmosphere and people are breathing it in. It is much more toxic and lethal than any virus. It is eating away at the soul of the ones who are willingly breathing it in. We are raising a generation of sociopaths. The dye is cast and the grapes of wrath are being trampled even as we speak. This is an ancient vine. The bitterest of all the fruits. And in the end there will only be two vines. Upon one hangs the grapes of wrath, upon the other the saints. One is fed and nurtured by Satan, and the other is the Lords. The generation that is coming forward is the generation into which we shall be given over to, for a time. And such a time as there has never been before. If those days which are coming are not shortened then every saint upon the earth will be killed by the legions that are growing in our midst.

And yet, despite all of that, we are called to love our enemies and do good to those who spitefully use us and abuse us. Our boldness should not be in defending our rights,. but in demonstrating and manifesting Jesus on the earth. The Hebrew children never complained about the fact that the king was having them burned, they are recorded as testifying to the fact that God would keep them and even if they died in the fire they would never bow down to the gods of this world. This is our boldness brothers and sisters, having the courage to stand up and declaring that we will never bow down to the gods of this world. Deliverance by our own hands from our enemies is not what we are called to.

Praising God in the midst of it all is. Making declarations. Standing upon the truth. Loving when we are hated. rendering not evil for evil. This is our journey. Do not be tempted off the narrow path. Fighting for your rights is an exit ramp. Politics is an exit ramp. And when you exit the narrow path you run straight into darkness, the very darkness that has robbed so many today of simple natural affection. Stay the course brothers and sisters. Recognize the signs of the times and the season in which we live, not to fight back as the world fights. Rather to trim our lamps and call upon the reserves of oil in our vessels that we may keep the light burning for a lost humanity to see and perhaps be drawn to.
