Can we wait on Him?

Posted by appolus on September 3, 2022

Do we allow space and time in our religious services for God to move among men? Do we have the faith to stand in silence and wait on God expectantly? Silence, for some reason, scares us. If we pray and teach and believe that God is going to come to us, then why not stand and wait for Him? Perhaps there is less faith involved in noise? Perhaps we have no real expectation of God to show up in our services? Perhaps we do not really want Him there? Perhaps all we want is a word about Him and not a word from Him? A word about Him is something we can handle, a Word from Him directly is and always has been life changing and radical. Do we really want our lives radically changed? Or are we content with what we have, content to stand at the door of our tents and watch Moses or Joshua go outside the camp and enter the tabernacle?
To You silence is praise, O God, in Zion; and to You is a vow paid. To You who hears prayer, all flesh comes. Things of iniquity are mightier than I; as for our transgressions, You shall purge them away. Blessed is the one whom You choose, and cause to come near You. He shall dwell in Your courts; we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple (Psa 65:1)
