When the mighty fall.

Posted by appolus on August 11, 2021

I want to say something about Governor Cuomo resigning. This is a cautionary tale of pride and privilege. When everyone around you is telling you how great you are, beware. The crowd is fickle and their spirits are fleeting. Their praise is nauseating, and everyone who lauded this man ( you know who you are) partake in his shame. Do not raise men up on pedestals, you will live to regret it.

We hear so much about white privilege in this country. It does actually exist and one of its princes resigned today. The actual privileged class, who lecture the rest of us, are the ones who practice this privilege with such ease. The Governor, in this case, is the son of a Governor. Power perpetuates itself through wealth and legacy. It walls itself of from reality by living in higher and higher ivory towers. It only deems to come down from its lofty heights to lecture the masses, thus creating a smokescreen for their actual behavior. They gaslight the rest of us by projecting their own privilege onto white men in general who have no such privilege.

Consider other men like Clinton and Weinstein, who surrounded themselves with women and telling us they did this because they are virtuous and champions of women. All the time they are actually predators who surround themselves with women like an all you can eat buffet. Now, think about the most powerful man who ever walked the earth. He walked and lived among the people. He had no possessions to speak of. No money, no privilege, not even a place to lay His head at night. He did not lecture, He taught. And He taught by example. If He was in the company of the prevailing ruling classes, he typically shredded them. He saw through their pomp and revealed the ugliness that actually lay within their hearts.

His friends were not the rich and the famous and the beautiful people. He surrounded Himself by tradesmen and men who worked with their hands. He was, in fact, the polar opposite of the rich and the privileged. His name is Jesus and His beauty reflected upon man’s ugliness. Look at Jesus and see how actual power conducts itself. It is beautiful and marvelous and a wonder to behold. If you want to laud any man, lift up the one true man, Jesus. You can be sure He will never let you down.

    The Coming Authority

    Years ago, the Lord spoke to me a very stern admonition: “If you don’t watch over your words, I’m not going to trust you with mine.” Authority in God requires that our own lives come under His dominion. The wise centurion fully understood authority and so must we. In his response to Jesus, we see that being under authority is expressed in obedience. Obedience is the revelation of our submission to God, not only in our words but in the very core of our hearts.

    “For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.”
    Matthew 8:9

    These are the traits of those whom God is raising up to leadership in this Day. There must be a comprehension of the fact that there are to be repercussions to their decisions which are to affect His Church locally and throughout the world. The condition of the Church in our town and every locality is the result of what is being ministered to it. Our hope is that what God is forming in this new generation is the answer to the Church in our town, our province, in Canada and in the world. The moving of God in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost affected the whole world.

    “And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, ‘These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also’.”
    Acts 17:6

    The purpose of true ministry is to convey the magnificence of His Call, His Being and His Power; to transform the broken lineage of Adam into the purity of Christ Himself. The fear of the Lord will cause us to realize the enormity of the words of Jesus:

    “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”
    Matthew 18:18

    The discipline required for us to bear this responsibility, and to have that depth of relationship with the One in whom all authority rests, will stretch the horizons of our faith.

    “For all the promises of God in Him are yea,
    and in Him Amen”
    2 Corinthians 1;20

    Those who live in the hope of the promises of God in Christ comprehend the preparation, the breaking, and the utter abandonment to God necessary for its fulfillment. The Hope which God puts into our hearts is one which purifies and pulsates with the need to become true that we might hold the high and precious things of God.

    “And every man that hath this hope in Him
    purifieth himself, even as He is pure”
    1 John 3:3

    There are many forms of hope in the religious world but only ONE hope carries within it the fire and the “spirit of burning” with eternal repercussions. It is the hope borne by a heart which has opened itself to the pure ministrations of the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding. These are the graces of God released into willing and redeemed hearts who abandon themselves to the depths of the Love of God which surpass knowledge. May God in His infinite mercy blow upon the embers of our hearts that the fire of such a hope will engulf us with a passion to “know Him” and to be “found in Him”. The Word testifies of Enoch:

    “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not;
    for God took him…”
    Genesis 5:24

    “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death;
    and was not found, because God had translated him:
    for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God”
    Hebrews 11:5

    Let us gaze beyond the veil of human reasoning, beyond the mediocrity and pragmatic views of His Glory, and be transformed in the seeing of Him that we might also be known as ones who “please God”. The description of the ethos in the day of Eli is one of a corrupt, blind, and unfaithful priesthood.

    “And the boy Samuel was serving Jehovah before Eli. And the Word of Jehovah was rare in those days. There was no breaking-through vision”
    1 Samuel 3:3

    The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding is the source of our vision, our concepts, and our pressing into the depths and unfathomable wonders of our God. The fire that births such things will consume the lethargy, the carelessness, and the apathy of a vision-deprived generation. The fire of the Spirit of God is a heavenly reality and its effect on the human heart can only be known by those who are close enough to feel its intensity.

    “Our God IS a consuming fire”
    Hebrews 12:29
