Mat 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
The Lord will not commit to those who are not committed to Him. This present generation of loud and “tumultuous,” believers are seeking to establish the Lords kingdom here on earth. The sign the Lord gave them is not good enough for them. What sign did the Lord give them? He gave them the sign of the Prophet Jonah. Jonah was swallowed whole by the whale and to any observer, was dead, yet three days later he is miraculously alive and goes on to call Ninevah to repentance. Jesus would find himself swallowed up by death but three days later He would arise and He has been warning us ever since through His word and through His people and through every soul that has been resurrected from death into His glorious light of eternity.
In the quiet of faith, the Lord will respond to His own, He always has and He always will.He will not respond to a crass church which seeks to gratify their own corrupt lusts. So all of the church’s that cry out for miracles, the Lord knows the motivations of their heart. Signs and wonders would follow. Follow what? The preaching of Calvary. The proclamation of the Truth. The bold witness for Christ. The genuine love of the lost. So, those who place greater importance on signs and wonders rather than salvation’s do so for a reason. And in doing so, they expose the fragile nature of the faith that they claim to have.
The Lord will not commit to those who have built their houses on sinking sand. This is why we see the “house,” of ”believers,” come tumbling down when faced with “unanswered prayers.” For they are not established on the solid Rock of Jesus Christ and the cross of Calvary. “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” Does your faith depend upon you seeing a miracle? Or does your faith stand upon the finished work of the cross of Calvary? Miracles are a bi-product of a glorious gospel not the primary object. That primary object is Jesus. And only when He alone is lifted up can we expect to see anything, as a byproduct of His glory.

One of the most powerful and oft quoted Scriptures is also one of the Scriptures most quoted out of context. Consider 2 Cor 12:9. Typically when we quote a verse, we quote the whole verse. Yet for some strange reason (really not that strange) when we quote some verses we only quote a portion of it.
” And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Now consider the rest of that Scripture ,
“Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
The glory is in the midst of the “infirmity.” In fact we see that the power of God rests upon those who truly discover and encounter His strength in the midst of their weakness. We are never more weak or vulnerable when we are faced with disease and death. And so in the paradoxical Kingdom of God, when we are weak, then we are strong. This strength is what glorifies God. For all of us can glorify God on the mountain-top. Indeed this is the accusation of the Devil in the opening chapter of Job.
Yet only the few can glorify God in the deepest part of the valley, the depths of the dungeon. To glorify God when all is going well is very natural and is something the world understands. To glorify God in the depths of our infirmities, the depths of our dungeons like Paul and Silas, is supernatural and the world marvels at something so other-worldly. Indeed with Paul and Silas we get to see that supernatural power. The building shakes, the the captives doors are loosed and the jailer and his family are saved. All of that began with Paul and Silas glorying in their infirmities and praising God in one of the darkest moments of their life.
I believe peace to be our spiritual barometer. In the midst of a set of circumstances, what is the “atmosphere,’ around us that emanates form the condition of our hearts? Many people stoically go through situations, many are angry and bitter and unapproachable. Yet on the cross, even in the midst of unspeakable anguish, we see Jesus caring for his mother and giving directions for her well being. In saints who walk with the power spoken of in 2 Cor 12:9 we see them minister to others despite their situations.

2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
It’s a terrible thing to be held captive by our own thoughts. How exhausting it can be when we allow them to consume and overwhelm us? They can begin to eat away at us. They can even rob us of sleep and leave us tired and weary and walking the floor at night. I thank the Lord that He freed us and gave us the ability to take every thought into captivity and focus on Him. If a specific situation or trial has taken hold of your mind today, know that there is a way of escape, you are no longer slaves to the flesh but bond-servants, willing servants to the Lord of power.
If you have been set free by the Lord then you are free indeed. You now have the power to take those thoughts captive, they must bow to the Spirit of God in you. By an act of your will, take your eyes off of that situation today and turn them to Jesus and draw close to Him and peace will flood your soul. “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30)
Commit your heart to trust in Him today. Determine in your heart that you will no longer walk in fear. Give it to the Lord of hosts, let Him take the burden. He will take it if you will give it to Him. Your situation may not change but your attitude in the midst of it will. It will give you clarity of thought and the ability to focus and speak to the Lord. As your mind is drawn away from the pressing situation and the darkness of it, and you are drawn to the light of your Lord who loves you so much and is jealous for your thoughts, His light will begin to fill you. God bless you this day as you begin the task of taking your thoughts captive.

America is a country that struggles with the notion of being Christian. But in truth, there are no, nor ever have been, Christians nations. In the end all nations are secular. Yet nations can be influenced by the majority culture. This influence can be for good or for ill. If the culture is predominantly Christian in nature even if not in actuality, it will still be a force for good in the world.
It will still be a secular entity but will be somewhat restrained by its Christian influence. As that influence wains, then so does the actions that are taken simply because it is ” the right thing to do.” In the last administration we saw a radical departure from the Christian influence. So many of the tenets of our faith were challenged and undermined. We saw the establishment of gay marriage and the rise of transgenderism. We also saw the undermining of institutions and an attempt at something akin to a coup. We were always very proud of our peaceful transfer of power after an election. We looked down our noses at “banana republics,” and how they would seek to undermine anyone who beat them at the ballot box. In the last election we saw the audacity of power shine through. An unwillingness to relinquish power. A desire to destroy and undermine democracy in an act of self-righteousness.
The world has taken for granted the goodness of a superpower that is influenced by a majority Christian culture. As the Christian influence wains in the highest corridors of power in America then the world becomes a darker place. For in the end the true Christian will do what is right and not what is expedient. When that aspect of influence is lost to America then the world will slide more rapidly into darkness. In the last unholy administration that was an enemy to all things Christian, we saw how that darkness effected the world.
I am not arguing for more Christian leadership in politics. My observations are of a Christian culture in decline and what effects that has on a secular world. As the world seems intent on ridding itself of any vestige of Christian influence, it cannot at the very same time mourn the coming darkness of mankind. Only in Christ is there light, all other roads lead to darkness. Only in Christ is there hope, all other roads lead to disappointment. I am writing this piece this morning because we have an upcoming election.
I want to remind the saint to trust only in Jesus. Do what you must at the ballot box and follow your conscience. I have no doubt if a certain party wins then the world will hurtle all the more rapidly into the abyss. More babies will die, Christians will come under severe attack and the corruption of the children will accelerate. I have no doubt about any of that. I also have no doubt that this is, no matter when it happens, the fate of every true saint in the world. You will be hated by all nations for His sake. They will despise you. And the reason for this is that we are not part of this world. No matter how “good,” or how evil it is, we are not part of this world. We are pilgrims traveling along a narrow road fraught with dangers, distractions and dilemma.
The answer, as always. Keep your eyes upon Jesus. Look full into His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace. Beautiful old chorus that captures, with simplicity, the profound nature and power of keeping our gaze firmly fixed on Jesus and all the more as the storm rages. I sense in my spirit that the narrow road ahead for us is getting more narrow. And as traumatic as that will be, the by-product of that is that we, the saints, will become closer. Like the animals that came from all over the world, heading towards the ark, as they get closer to the ark they will begin to encounter each other in ever increasing numbers. Christ is our ark and the rain is coming. Let His Holy Spirit lead you to places you have never been as that day approaches. Stand fast in the faith and know that the Bridegroom cometh.

I think one of the great upcoming ironies will be when folks return to “church” they will be wearing masks. Think about that for a minute. How often was the complaint made that folks in ” church” wore masks? They smiled and told you everything was OK when it was not. They asked you how you were but would run a mile if your answer was anything other than ” I’m fine.”
For the most part that was “fellowship.” Never really getting to know the people because they wore their ” Sunday go to church,” masks. Fellowship so shallow that it would barely wet your ankles. Now people will actually be wearing masks. Another layer of anonymity.
God is not a hundred miles wide and an inch deep. Neither is the fellowship that He forges among His children. His depths are unlimited. So is the potential for fellowship among a people that He calls out. A transparent people who are willing to be “seen.”
The heights and the depths and the length of His love has no measure. It is pure and undefiled. He calls us into this fellowship with Him and with each other. A place of trust, a place of transparency, a place without masks. Here I am. This is who I am in Christ. Can you see my heart? Can I see yours?
We stand, unlike the world, unmasked before men. What you see in the genuine Body of Christ is what you get. While the whole world is donning “masks” to protect itself from unseen dangers lurking in the darkness. The Body of Christ is being unmasked to the world in His marvelous light. He is building His Church for all the world to see. And they shall be totally immersed in a river so deep that you must give yourself to its current.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, do not be astonished at the fiery trial which is to try you, as though a strange thing happened to you, but rejoice according as you are partakers of Christ’s suffering, so that when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you. Truly according to them, He is blasphemed, but according to you He is glorified.
God is raising up, making ready a people on whom the “Spirit of God and of glory rests,” on. This is a people who have learned to rejoice that they too were counted worthy to be “partakers of Christ’s sufferings.” Oh how this flies in the face of today’s heresies. And the purpose of it all? That God might be glorified on the earth. Do you want the Spirit of glory to rest upon you? Do you want to ready yourselves brothers and sisters? Then reject all self-serving religion. Reject every voice that would tell you that there is no need to ready yourself, no need to humble yourself, no need to repent and ask for forgiveness.
Reject every voice that would encourage you to live your best life now, who would encourage you that God wants to enrich you with the treasures of this world, that you do not have to suffer, reject them all for in doing so you will counter the enemy who is disarming the people. You will stand strong in the armor of the Lord so that you may stand in that evil day. God is arraying His people for battle, He is calling and He is equipping. The time is drawing close brothers and sisters, be vigilant and do not be deceived.
Mal 3:1 Behold, I will send My messenger, and He will clear the way before Me. And Jehovah, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Angel of the Covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He comes, says Jehovah of Hosts. But who can endure the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s soap. And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. And He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may be offerers of a food offering in righteousness to Jehovah.
He is building a temple, not by human hands, we, His called out children are that temple, who can endure the day of His coming? Those whom He has readied.

Mat 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him,
I have realized just how much I miss this thing called touch. To take someone’s hand. To put an arm around someone’s shoulder. To hug a friend, a grandson, a baby. Touch. You know, I would not survive in a world without touch. My life was birthed by a touch, Jesus touched me. He touched my heart. He touched my soul. He touched every part of who I was and He transformed me. Just one touch from the Masters hand. The end result of the above Scripture was that the man, the man who had leprosy, was healed. There is healing in the touch of God. There is healing in the laying on of hands. There is something about touch. To reach out and touch someone right where they are. To reach them through the darkness of loneliness. To connect with them through the fog of alienation. To break through the invisible barrier of space and distance and connect with another soul. If distance is the price for saving my life going forward then I am not going to make it. I dont want to make it under those conditions. I want to touch just as I have been touched. And if there is a willing and needful recipient, whether he has leprosy or some virus then I want to touch that one. I want to, in a very limited way, convey the touch of God that changed me. In the end, I will not be told, not to touch or to keep my distance social or otherwise. I will follow the God who touched me and the God who heals. Saints, let us follow His lead and reach out and touch someone.

The Lord gave me this word, a hard word to be sure. My only charge is to deliver it. –
In Lamentations chapter four we see a very different Jerusalem. That once tremendous city, shining like gold above all other cities, is now tarnished and under siege. It is slowly starving and its once proud stones that made up the temple now lay scattered in the streets like common rubble. Zion was about to fall. Impregnable Zion, on the verge of utter ruin. They were surrounded by the world outside in a siege that would only end in its utter ruin. And in the greatest horror of all, the women would cook and eat their own children. There is no lower state in all the world. This was worse than Sodom for Sodom fell in one day, there would be no such luxury for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The symbols of their God lay ruined and they were about to be devoured by the world. Matthew Henry asks this question of the women in Jerusalem who cooked and ate their own children. This act, was it “the power of necessity, or the power of iniquity.” Such a powerful question, ponder on it for a moment reader.
In a secular sense America was the shining light for the nations. It shone like gold in comparison to old Europe that had grown tired and dim. It took the world’s huddles masses. It gave hope to people from all around the world, like a city set on a hill, it drew them to herself. In two word wars she fought and in the second war she saved civilization itself and the name of God was never far from the lips of her citizens. Now look at America if you dare. Her institutions have been corrupted. Over ninety percent of all the porn in the world spew forth from her bowels. Her merchants and statesmen sold her out to the highest bidders and she became the whore of the world whereby many became rich by her. Yet her greatest iniquity lay with her mothers. Now the question Matthew Henry raised about the mothers of Jerusalem. Was their horrendous act born out of necessity or iniquity? Can I argue that a righteous woman would never cook and eat her own child. Only the hardest iniquitous hearts would ever contemplate such an act never-mind carry it out.
I asked a question recently, a rhetorical one. What is more horrendous, to slaughter an infant in the gas chambers or in their mothers womb? What human being would allow their wombs to be so violated and their child to be so mutilated? A woman, a generation, ripe for judgement. Ripe to be surrounded by the world and put under siege. Ripe to have the stones of their temples torn down and scattered in the streets like rubble only fit to be buried. Sixty five million babies slaughtered and dedicated to the world. A world that would consume them, darken them and ultimately destroy them. Zion was impregnable, yet it fell. America the proud, you will fall. Not like Sodom, not like Gomoragh but you will slowly starve to death. Most definately spiritually, but perhaps even physically. In the history of the world, no nation has sinned to this extent. God has sent His warnings. The towers fell and the cry was not one of repentance, but “we will rebuild.” The whole world has come to a standill and the cry is not one of repentance. From their ministers it is ” soon it will be business as usual for we have not missed a beat.”
The real tragedy we are facing right now in Christendom is a blindness to the need for repentance. The virus that causes this blindness is wilfull ignorance. They choose not to see. Not only no repentance, but a doubling down on wickedness, and most of the world cheers, or peeks out from behind the curtain and says nothing. Our silence is our guilt. The cheers from the world we should expect, the silence from Christendom is a deafening roar. We stay behind our curtains, our walls, as the world spirals downwards. Our highest ambition is to get back to “normal.” God help us. So saints, if you abide in such a place, can you stay there? It is time for the saints of God to step out of the boat, step into the storm, lift your eyes and fix them on Jesus, our soon coming King. Where will He find you when He comes? Behind the walls? Hanging onto the boat for dear life? Shall you not walk upon the water? It is there that you shall find Him, we must go to where He is and leave behind where He is not.

Phil 4:11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
Paul is a great example to us when he tells us that he had “learned” to be content. There is no magic wand to arrive at this position. We must “learn” And we learn by walking through the fires and the floods. Giving ourselves over and surrendering in every situation so that we can find the freedom that is found in the darkness. What do I mean by that? Well the greatest freedom ever wrought was formed and delivered to us from Calvary.
It is on the tree that Jesus set us free from the laws of sin and death. Gethsemane, Calvary, the cross, the resurrection, this is the path. There has to be a willingness to take up our crosses and die. I do not believe it is every forced upon us. Well I remember the day in 1995, four years after I came to Jesus, that I cried out to my heavenly Father” whatever it takes Lord for me to be useful to you.” One of those prayers that you know that you know that was heard before the throne.
The next 20 years there was one trial after another. The kind of trials that make you fall to your knees. Over and over again. Yet, I began to discover deep truths in these trials. After so many of them it occurred to me how faithful God was to me in the midst of them. How He was always there. How disappointed I was by my lack of total trust in Him as I walked through them. How I was determined in my spirit to walk through the next one, which I knew was coming, with more faith and trust in the faithfulness of God. I discovered that this journey was a journey not about my own faith but about discovering just how faithful the Lord was to me. It was all about His faithfulness!! And the light bulb began to come on. I was “learning.” And my own faith was strengthened in the midst of it all.

One the clergy/laity distinction is removed the concept of ministry changes. It ceases to be the proprietary right of the few and becomes the privilege of all. ( Arthur Wallis.)
This point made by Wallis is the beating heart of religion. The clergy/laity system is a perpetuation of the ancient religions and is a death blow to a royal priesthood. Imagine a system where is everyone is a priest in a spiritual priesthood set up by Jesus Himself. It is a shame that for the most part we have to imagine that. One thing is for sure, where this clergy/laity system exists, there is no functioning priesthood. One may say there is and fool oneself, but where the clergy/laity exists then the royal priesthood has been reduced to a mere mental assent to an abstract truth.
It is one or the other for it cannot be both. Men want to lead or be led, most want to be led. They want a mediator between them and God and there are plenty of men willing to play that role. The rewards of the role is status and power. There is hierarchy and talk of authority and submission. Yet the leadership model of the priesthood is a bottom up servant leadership where one washes the feet of the others.
Diotrephes rejected the Apostle John. Think about that. The Apostle that Jesus loved was rejected by a “leader,” and why? He loved the preeminence. He wanted to be the leader, he was jealous of any other voice. This is absolute evidence that Jesus was not preeminent in the church that Diotrephes “ran.” How often we ask the question “who runs your church.” If the answer is anything other than Jesus, if 95% of the time only one man speaks, you can be sure the spirit of Diotrephes roams the corridors of power in that place. Jesus has been dethroned and is now as unwanted as the Apostle John was. The question is, how welcome would the Apostle John be in your gathering?

I have noticed over the years that most of the encouragement we give to other saints is outcome based. What do I mean by that? Well, the most basic example would be ” there, there, everything is going to be okay.” It is very hard to say anything against this kind of encouragement because, on the one hand, it is spiritually true. Yet, what holds true for us as saints in the spiritual realm, does not necessarily hold true in the realm of this world. Let me give you an example. Someone is dying of cancer. Do you tell them everything is going to be ok, meaning they are not going to die, or is everything going to be okay because Jesus rules and reigns in their lives? I believe that is the fundamental difference between spiritual encouragement and what is often just a very human reaction to someone in a difficult situation. When Jesus was talking to the thief on the cross, in the natural realm, everything was not nor was it going to be ok. Yet, the encouragement that the thief gets is two-fold. First, he is in the presence of Jesus and he recognizes it, secondly, his encouragement from Jesus was that this very day he would be with Him in paradise. Obviously that is an extreme example but I believe the principles and the applications are sound. First and foremost, the greatest help for any saint is to be in the presence of the Lord. Secondly, the sure knowledge that no matter what happens, we will be with Him eternally is our firm foundation. This is why there is no victory for death and the grave has indeed lost its sting. Unless that foundational truth rules and reigns in our hearts, then the enemy will always have some kind of access to our hearts and minds, set up some kind of stronghold in our flesh, and from there could mount daily attacks.
We are called to comfort one another with the very comfort we ourselves have been comforted with. What is the greatest, or should I say who is the greatest comfort? The comforter, the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ. When we bring Him to bear in every situation then we are in a good place to encourage one another. A focus on Him, He being preeminent in every situation, brings the power of God right into every situation. It is from that place we may well say to someone “there there, everything is going to be ok.” We may say that the Lord is going to heal you, if the Lord said that. We may say that this very day you will be with Him in paradise. There are many things we may say in the midst of comforting someone, and when it flows from the Holy Spirit of the Living God it will never be wrong. Where we often go astray is when we replace the Spirit of God with wishful thinking and positive thoughts. The key of course, for this and for all things, is to be walking in the Spirit of God and not to get ahead of Him. This is where we run into trouble. We feel the need to say something so we say the first positive thing that comes into our head. Yet, when we actually allow the Lord to go before us, then He becomes a cloud by day and a fire by night. Let Him ever go before us.

The darkest moment in history can be found in Matt 27:45-46. We are told that from the sixth hour to the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. Jesus was not unaffected by this. In fact towards the very end of this supernatural darkness, when hell seemed to rule over the earth and all seemed lost as our precious Lord and Saviour is dying on the Cross, from the very depths of His soul, and oh the depths there was He cries “My God , My God, why has thou forsaken me.” Ponder that just for a moment…………Hell seems to be victorious. All seems lost. Every saint I believe will go through something of that in their lives at some point. And every saint that is called to be the generation that is alive at the coming of Jesus will experience the gross darkness of hell and seeming defeat.
In Exodus 10:21 we are told that the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. Imagine that brothers and sisters, a darkness that can be felt. A darkness that touches you to the depths of your very soul, so much so that it can be “felt.” Imagine living through that. Yet in the very depths of such a darkness we read in verse 23 that they saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. So dark that they could not see one another, for three days, symbolic of the three hours of gross darkness on the cross, yet, praise the Lord God in heaven the children of Israel had “light in their dwellings.”
Jesus is the light in our darkness. We are His dwelling place and His light in us is the light to the world in the midst of gross darkness. We hold this light, we hold this treasure in broken vessels. He was broken for us on the cross so that we may have light in the darkness. Before that scene is over He cries out in Luke 23:46 Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Now brothers and sisters we are told that He cried this out with a loud voice. With a loud voice and a cry from the same depths of His soul he commits everything to His Father.
Have you ever cried out to God from the depths of your soul? I believe every genuine saint has and will. When we are surrounded by gross darkness, even a darkness that can be felt then the light that shines from the depths of our dwelling, this tent in which we dwell, shall be seen by a lost and dying world which is literally drowning in darkness. We hold out hope to them for we ourselves have been plucked from the ravages of such gross darkness. The key to our lives and the delivery from such darkness is to shout out loud to our Father in heaven that we commit our hearts and our minds and our souls and our very spirit to Him. And from the midst of that commitment, light penetrates and overcomes the darkness.

I feel in my spirit that there has been a monumental shift in the world. I do not believe this virus will draw the world closer to God. Perhaps some individuals scattered across the planet will, but society has shifted in ways that we have never seen before. The Holy Spirit continually lays upon my heart that we have entered into the days of Romans one. In Romans one verse 18 it says something very profound, it says that the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Now, to the ancient world, this truth revealed was his eternal power and Godhead. They knew of this, they were all decendants of Noah. At some point they had exchanged the glory of the uncorruptible God for that of creatures and trees and things that demanded nothing of them. They created gods that would serve them rather them serving the living God.
Now when Romans one is applied to us in the modern age, we who have known the truth of God through His word and through His disciples and through the Holy Spirit, those who now hold that truth in unrighteousness are so much more guilty. We are more guilty that the ancient world. God Himself came and walked this earth and walked among men and gave to those men and those who would follow Him the Holy Spirit of the Living God. In every generation since then we have been the visible conscience of mankind. And in very generation God’s people were killed all the day the long as men reacted violently against the truth revealed by a Holy God through the power of the Holy Spirit.
This generation that is now alive, for the most part are doing everything they can to shut the mouths of the saints. Dare to stand up and speak of the wrath of God revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and see what happens. Dare to speak about the life-styles of people that run counter to and in direct violation of Gods word and see what happens. The truth tellers have for the most part been silenced. In this situation we find ourselves in today, with the virus that has literally shut down the whole world, is society humbled and crying out to God? I wish to God that they were. No, the story of this virus is doctors and nurses and scientists and world organisations. Not God.
We have very recent history of what happens when God is thrown of by men in favor of science. Starting with science and Darwin, then eugenics and great leaps forward in knowledge, we see a country like Germany totally embrace this and plunge headlong into the abyss on a wave of pride. When men become so proud of their own achievements and are so puffed up with their own abilities and throw of God, then hell is loosed. Can I tell you, I believe even as we speak hell is being loosed. The pride of man is the key to the gates of hell.
We see the very fundamentals of God’s creation challenged. God created man and woman. Science says no. Science says it is fluid and you can choose. God said that He made the heavens and the earth, He created it all. Science says no. It gives us various theories but what it is very certain of is that God did not create everything that exists. God created the union of a man and a woman and the world, including science says no. Science and medicine, even in the midst of this pandemic, continue with the killing of babies in the womb. God says it is an abomination, science and medicine and the world say it is merely a choice of woman and in fact, they say it is morally right.
Now, all around the world, not only do they teach these things among others, they teach it to the children. There is a generation of children around the world being raised in direct rebellion against God. Our wickedness has risen to the heights of heaven. How then shall we respond to those who hold the truth in unrighteousness? We must hold up, high, the truth in righteousness. This is the calling of the saints who find themselves in a Romans one world. It is no mistake that Paul is writing this to the Romans. To those who dwelt in the very seat of power on the earth. We saints in America are living in the modern day equivalent of ancient Rome.
Paul said that he was not ashamed of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is the power of God unto salvation. Now brothers and sisters, that is the whole Gospel, not just what the world would consider to be the palatable parts. The power of God resides with the unashamed. If you are ashamed of any part of the Gospel, if you are scared of the mocking or the ridicule or the undoubted labeling that comes when you stand for the truth, then you have no power. If you are ashamed of any part of the Gospel, any part of the truth, then Jesus will be ashamed of you before His Father in heaven.
The days are upon us when the world demands that you capitulate to them and to their sin. It is not a day when we live and let live, no the enemies of the Gospel demand that we bow down to their idols. They demand that we call that which is an abomination, holy. They demand that we send our children to be taught gross error. We will come through the pandemic but God will not have been petitioned. And so, like waves on a sea that is in the midst of a building storm, the next wave will come and it will be bigger and it will be stronger. Men will celebrate their “victory.” It will seem like peace has returned and “suddenly,’ the wrath of God will be revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness.
Christendom is very quiet and every day it grows more quiet. The enemy demands that we shut our mouths, he screams out threatenings and has growing power to destroy the lives of all those who stand against him. Shall we remain quiet saints? Shall we be ashamed of the Gospel, the full Gospel? If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.(1Pe 4:14) There is a Spirit of glory and of God that rests upon the one who is unashamed of the Gospel. It is the power of God. The question is, do you really want to move in the glory and the power of God? Then it is time to stand and make your voice heard.

Hab 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
There is a great multitude today who are desperately hungry and thirsty. All over the world the people dwell in great darkness and the darkness increases every day. Hell has opened up its vaults and is beginning to spew forth its contents with increasing speed and urgency because it knows its time is short. There is a desperate darkness coming and it is coming at us with alarming speed. Yet just as in the time of Noah, the world is ignorant of the impending disaster about to befall it.
Like the children of Israel when Jesus says “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!” Jesus wept because He knew that less than forty years after His death and resurrection that the whole system would come tumbling down. The Temple would be destroyed and the Israelite’s would be no more as a nation and they had absolutely no idea.
In those days, it was unimaginable that their Temple, their country, their way of life would be swept away and that they would be scattered to the four corners of the world. It is equally unimaginable to so many that the church system as we know it today, will be completely consumed by Babylon and turn on God’s remnant children. Yet brothers and sisters, that is exactly what is coming as this great Babylonian whore church evolves and worships the anti-Christ. And despite all this, God’s children will shine brightly in the darkest days the world has ever known. Full of the Holy Spirit and walking in the presence of God.
A blood bought remnant people whose desperate desire is to follow Him to Calvary and beyond. Their eyes will see the Glory of the Living God cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. This persecution upon the saints will rend the heavens and the glory of God will fall upon them. Because this persecution will be worldwide therefore the glory that falls will fall all over the world and the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God. Jesus will be manifested to the world. It will be clear to the world what they are rejecting and then He shall appear. Oh for the day of His appearance when every eye shall see Him and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord to the glory of God.

A sieve is an apparatus that allows the finer particles through while trapping the courser elements. The process is known as sifting. In Isaiah 30:28 the prophet describes God in this way “His breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity.” This sieve is designed to catch and separate vanity-the proud. The sieve requires shaking in order to find what it wants to reject and to let pass through what is desirable. His breath is like a raging river which reaches up to the neck. Imagine that. In a flash flood it only takes six inches of water to knock a man off of his feet, yet here we see the raging river of the breath of God reaching up to the neck. Who can stand when the Lord moves? Only those who stand upon the Rock.
What particular pride are we seeing here referred to by Isaiah? In the previous verse, verse 27 it says that: Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire. The name of the Lord had been blasphemed against by Rabshakeh, the Assyrian general. He likened the one true God to every other god whom had fallen before them. Now that name, the name he took in vain, has come and He would be like a devouring fire who would overthrow their pride and they would be helpless in the midst of it all.
The world has mocked the one true God. They want nothing to do with Him and in their vanity they ridicule Him. They have systematically violated His word. He says that Homosexuality is an abomination, they say that no, in fact this is merely an expression of Gods creation. He says that He made man and women, they say no, there are many genders and you can be anything you like. He said that those who pass their children through the fire are an abomination, they say,no, it is a moral right to be able to kill your unwanted children. He says that He is the way the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but by Him. They say that there is no heaven and if there is there are multiple ways to get there. He says that the name of Jesus is high and lifted up, they use that name as a curse. He says suffer the little children to come unto me and woe to them who hurt them. they indoctrinate these children from the early age in defiant rebellion against the one true living God.
God also sifts those who are called by His name and there are multiple siftings. Fire and storm is a form of sifting. As the heat intensifies, many called by His name fall away. As the world makes ever greater demands for compromise, many more fall away. As the cost begins to rise for bearing the name of Jesus, more fall away. As Jesus reveals that His people must suffer, more fall. As He removes all of the trappings of religion, again the chaff blows away in the wind. God will have a refined people when He returns for His own. He will come back for a pure and spotless Bride. Brothers and sisters, we live in the midst of such days. We are called to withstand in the evil day, meaning to resist, stand against, and having done all, cloaked in the armor of God, to stand and not fall.
Stand against who or what? Principalities and powers and the rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but rather the spiritual reality of what lies behind flesh and blood. The battle takes place in heavenly places. It requires violent men in terms of the spirit. Men and women who can resist, and who will resist and who are covered by the Blood of the Lamb, have the word of their testimony and who love not their lives unto death. This is the few and our enemy is the spiritual reality behind the many. Remember brothers and sisters, greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

In the solemn days of our times. When the bustling economies of the world come to a standstill. Who will search His word, who will search their hearts? Shall we ignore God? Shall we desperately try to keep going and keep doing what we were doing before? If the locusts descended upon you and the whole earth shook should you not look to the heavens and cry out to God and know the error of your ways? The Lord tells us in His word that we should let our tears run down like a river day and night, that we should give ourselves no relief and no rest. We should rise up from our slumbers and cry out in the night. Do we observe any of this brothers and sisters? The Lord also told us in His word that the He has caused the appointed feasts and the Sabbaths to be forgotten, In His burning indignation He has spurned the king and the priest. The Lord has spurned His alter and abandoned His sanctuary.
Lam 2:7 The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
One of our favorite pieces of Scripture says “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed because His compassion fails not. They are new every morning, great is His faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul therefore I hope in Him” These words are penned in the midst of great affliction. They are the hearts cry of a man drowning in darkness, crying out to the living God and in the midst of those cries he discovers mercy and faithfulness and hope. Another favorite portion of Scripture is “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2Ch 7:14) Do you ever wonder why we never quote verse 13, the verse that comes before ” if I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
You see, we dont like that part. We like all the benefits of Calvary but we do not like the cost. What cost you say, Jesus did it all. Yes He did but He directly commands us to take up our own crosses, every day. We are told that we must lift up the Lord Jesus Christ and He alone must be preeminent in the midst of our lives and in the midst of our gathering. We are the Ekklesia, we are the called out ones. And in the midst of those called out ones who gather together, Jesus and He alone is to be lifted up. He directs His people and He does it through the power of the Holy Spirit. And when we do indeed lift up Jesus and magnify Him then the power of God rests upon us.
So, a week ago, business as usual. Today, every “church,” in the western world is shut down. Who would have thought such a thing? Yet almost everywhere you can gather together ten or less. What is the Lord saying in the midst of this? Is He saying “hold on, eventually you can go back to business as usual?” Really? You really think He is saying that? If He is not saying that then what is He saying to us in the days that we find ourselves? Literally, everything in the world that can be shaken is being shaken. In every village and town and city throughout all of the lands fear stalks the streets. If we will not ask ourselves hard questions and search our hearts then shortly after this ends, another shall come. Like a building storm in a vast ocean the waves get higher and higher.
There is mercy to be found for the broken and the contrite. We have trampled His name in the street. Shall He cut of the rain, shall He send the locust? Or shall we return to our roots, our Biblical roots, all the way back to the beginning. We have gotten terribly off track. We have so many centuries of tradition and error upon error that we bear little or no resemblance to what we read in 1 Cor 14. The simple organic worship of the called out ones. Ones who desire to be led, wholly led, not by men, not by traditions not by liturgy or by program and deadly routine. God is speaking to us loudly and clearly. The question is, are we listening? If we would indeed humble ourselves and turn from what? Our wicked ways. Who is He talking about here? The people who call themselves by His name. You, and me. Our wicked ways brothers and sisters. We have denied and defied the Word of God in favor of our wicked ways. You cry out “how are we wicked?” We hold the covenants of God in our mouths and we declare His statutes. Yes indeed, it is part of your indictment.
The Lord tells us to call upon Him in the day of trouble. Call upon Him in repentance and contriteness and brokenness. If we do this and pray and seek His face, then He will hear from heaven and forgive our sin. What sin? All of our sin but especially the sin of having demoted Jesus to some kind of mascot or figurehead and raising up the idol of the pulpit in favor of actually hearing from God. We have a million little Moses who willing ascend that pulpit every Sunday, elevating themselves and taking the place and the role and the authority of Jesus. These men should tremble and repent and we should too for allowing such a travesty to unfold. And in that trembling and in that repentance we shall find a merciful God whose mercies are new every morning.

Heb 13:13-14 Therefore let us go forth to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
Jesus was found outside the camp, outside the walls, outside the gates. We are told to go to where He is. In those days, the walls represented security and belonging. To be outside the camp was to be outside of fellowship with the rest of society and to be in a dangerous place. Yet, Jesus was found in a place called Golgotha, outside of the gates. To leave the security of the walls behind us, we must be willing to find all of our security and belonging in Jesus.
If any part of our heart belongs to the city, we will be tempted to look back with longing as judgment begins to pour down upon it, just as Lots wife looked back. It is an eternal city that we seek and we have been called to be sojourners and pilgrims in this voyage of life. Jesus alone is our anchor and only in Him can we find our place of refuge, He alone is our high tower.
The distance from where Jesus hung on the cross was not very far from the temple. Those who dwelt within the walls were convinced that the presence of God was within the heart of the temple, in the Holy of Holy’s. Yet tragically for those who clung to their place of worship and who ignored what Jesus had told the woman at the well, would die in their religion.
Jesus told the woman at the well when she questioned Him about where the proper place to worship should be that a time was coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24) The presence of God was not in the Holy of Holy’s, the presence of God, the word made flesh, Emmanuel, was hanging from a tree outside of civilized society on a garbage dump known as Golgotha.
The saints of God are sojourners. We are pilgrims in a strange land who are merely passing through. We bear His reproach from the world and from the religious. Do you worship Him in Spirit and in Truth? Can we ignore the truth and still be obedient to the words of Jesus? If we are to walk in the Spirit then we have to walk in the truth, you cannot have one without the other. In our ever changing world it is getting more and more difficult to justify staying behind the walls. We have to be where the truth is. True worshipers will follow the Spirit and will follow the truth, even if none go with them and despite the ridicule and the reproach. Remember we are bearing His reproach for here we have no continuing city but we seek one to come

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
How deep the love that cries “forgive them Father?” How dead to the flesh a man must be to cry “hold not this charge against them.” How transformed must his flesh be that he has a vision in the midst of being stoned by his countrymen? And brother Stephen was taken home loving those who bore the stones.
Would I respond in such a manner?? I pray that I would. I pray that every trial and tribulation I now suffer is a mile run by one who trains for a marathon. Can I see my trials as blessings? Can I walk counter to modern Christendom and count my trials as I count my blessings? This is the deeper life brothers and sisters. This is the counter-culture. This is the way of the cross. This is the narrow path. Can we arrive at such a place as to rejoice in our sufferings? How can a man rejoice in his sufferings? Well, a man cannot, only a saint empowered by the Holy Spirit can.
There is no key or magic wand on how to rejoice in the depths of suffering. There is only encounter, there is only desire, there is only that thirst spoken of by David when he spoke of the deer that panteth after the waterbrooks. Make no mistake brothers and sisters, this place, this walk of the saints, this place of peace that surpasses all understanding is born out of fire. We have to encounter the Lord Jesus in the depths of the fiery furnace.
Is there another way? No. It’s the narrow path, it’s the taking up of the cross, it’s the decision made in the garden of Gethsemane and even that is not it, there is still the death, even the death of the cross. Many men will die for the cause but how many are willing to die for the cross?

Saints, there is a roaring lion that is stalking the land. It is not the virus, it is fear. The question is, aside from all common sense actions, will you deliberately and with faith put all that you are and all that you have into the hands of Jesus? If you make a conscious decision of the will to rest in Him, an act of obedience, then you will have a peace that surpasses understanding. This is quite apart from any loss you may suffer, it will be in spite of any loss you may suffer.
Paul said that he would rather glory in his infirmities that the power of God may rest upon him. Paul had discovered that no matter what his situation was, that the grace of God was sufficient for him. That word sufficient in the Greek is “arkeo” and in this context means to raise a barrier. Can I tell you, that no matter how much the enemy floods the land. the Lord has raised up a barrier and it cannot be penetrated nor over-topped. He is our higher ground.
When we realize this, when we avail ourselves of this, then is the power of the Living God resting upon us for all the world to see. In the midst of our circumstance the Lord Christ is being lifted up and glorified and the power of God is multiplied in our lives. Paul is so full of the power of the living God and the grace that He has found that he can make this incredibly bold claim ” I take pleasure in my infirmities in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
Glorify God today. Make the decision of the will, be obedient, do not fear but rather rest upon the grace of God which Jesus Himself is sufficient for you and all the world will see His power and He will be magnified this very day.

1Pe 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
None of us enjoy suffering. That might be something that is common to every man and woman on the earth. We often go to enormous lengths to avoid suffering. It is our natural state. Yet here we see that in the process of being sanctified, there is indeed suffering to be dealt with. How we deal with that suffering is a vital part of the sanctification process. We cannot hate it, we cannot fear it, we cannot run from it and we cannot battle it. Yet that is what most of do. Yet we are not natural men brothers and sisters, we are supernatural. One pastor said that your salvation is either supernatural or superficial. The word superficial is defined as “existing or occurring at or on the surface.” Suffering goes deep beneath the surface. There are many things that we can replicate in a superficial manner, being at peace in the midst of suffering, having great joy despite our circumstances is not one them.
Paul says in Romans 5:3-4 …..but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Can you imagine that? He glories in his suffering because of what he knows that it is producing. It is producing the very elements that we need to endure and overcome. We are being shaped by the Lord. Resigning our lives into His hands is our reasonable service. A superficial faith cannot abide the thought of suffering or any kind of deprivation. The notion that one could end up in a dungeon whipped to within and inch of our lives and yet still be praising God and thanking God and glorifying God in the midst of all of it rather than begging God to be relieved of our circumstances is an offense to many.
Paul says that the power of God rested upon him as he gloried in his infirmities in 2 Cor 12:10. By the grace of God, His strength is made perfect in our weakness. This is why Paul would rather glory in his infirmities. He was so sold out to the notion of glorifying God that no matter what it took, then he was ready for that. This is the high water mark for us saints. To follow Jesus in such a manner is to have totally abandoned the flesh. Push on in deeper saint, may we decrease and may He increase.
