The Lord’s Holiness is seen in men and woman who have encountered the Living God. They are radically converted from a world of sin to a world of light. This radical conversion is seen in their walk. They are a living testimony of the power of God to change lives. They are a living testimony , read of men. And God gets all the glory.

Its worth exactly how much someone is willing to pay for it
Posted by appolus on September 24, 2011
How much are you worth? Do you struggle with that? Do you struggle with self-forgiveness? Do you understand the concept but simply cannot seem to apply it in your life? And, does this hold you back sometimes from being an effective minister for the Lord? Where does that come from? Does it come from the enemy? Perhaps it comes from your dysfunction? Or, perhaps it comes from a combination of both? Is it simply the devil taking advantage of your dysfunction? We will endeavor to look at this subject and address these questions but know this, it does not come from God.

Perpetual desolation
Posted by appolus on September 19, 2011
The poem that I wrote below is based on Psalm 74. There are many out there who know the pain of destruction, who know the agony of failure. Their failure has allowed the doors of destruction to be open and in pours hell and all of its fury. And when the enemy comes on he comes in without mercy. He wreaks havoc and tears down everything, things that took a lifetime to build, perhaps generations to establish, this is the nature of the enemy, he is a destroyer. He takes that which is precious and crushes it. Now while this is very true on a personal level, this is also true on a national level. This Psalm is a lament. It laments invasion. It cries out to God from a hopeless place. It remembers its past victories and cries out to God to remember His covenant. Brothers I believe that there is such a time coming to Christendom, a time of perpetual desolation, a time of losing everything that has been precious to us, a stripping down until we stand naked before God and all that is left is what is truly valuable to us, our relationship with Him. Stand fast in the days ahead brothers and sisters. Press into God now, fill your lamps with oil now for the darkness comes, the darkness comes. In this place of desolation we can find Gods glory. For even the darkness is light to Him, praise God.

The Question That Changed My Life, by David Ryser
A number of years ago, I had the privilege of teaching at a school of ministry. My students were hungry for God, and I was constantly searching for ways to challenge them to fall more in love with Jesus and to become voices for revival in the Church. I came across a quote attributed most often to Rev. Sam Pascoe. It is a short version of the history of Christianity, and it goes like this:

Stoking the fires of the culture wars!
Posted by appolus on September 12, 2011
Quote from ” Bonhoeffer, Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy”
” Karl Bonhoeffer’s conclusions may have been different from his son’s, but his respect for truth and for other human beings of different opinions formed the foundation of a civil society in which one might disagree graciously and might reason together civilly and productively. In the years ahead this would be seriously attacked, and the Nazis would stoke the fires of the culture wars (Kulturkamp) to play their enemies against each other. They would brilliantly co-opt the conservatives and the Christian churches, and when they had the power to do so, they would turn on them too.” (page 96)

The Psalms and poetry
Posted by appolus on September 10, 2011
The Lord has laid it upon my heart to write a poem for every Psalm. I was somewhat overwhelmed by this throught. Writing a poem about a poem. My hope is that if anyone reads these poems then it will lead them to the corresponding psalm. What I have realiszed in writing these is that what I write is like a crumb that falls to the floor from a magnificent banqueting table, a veritible feast of beauty and truth and honesty. We can truly see in the Psalms why David was a man after Gods own heart. Here is the first ten………………………

Are you an evergreen tree?
Posted by appolus on August 27, 2011
Have you noticed that there are saints, mostly older, who have a peace about them? They are Godly, they are full of wisdom, they are steady no matter what the circumstances. We know that Paul said that he had learned to be content in whatever state he found himself in. (Php 4:11) If you look at that portion of Scripture you could translate it into today’s reality and say that whether you had food on the table or not, you would be content. Whether you had a job or not, you would be content. Whether you were free or whether you were imprisoned, you would be content.

Revival
Posted by appolus on August 26, 2011
It still makes me weep when I hear the account of the Lewis revival as told by that precious saint, Duncan Campbell. When he speaks of going to the door at 11pm and there being six or seven hundred people, hungry and seeking God, it makes my heart sore. Oh that the people of my homeland would once again seek the living God, oh that He would rend the heavens and step down. Oh that the people of this great land of America would turn their eyes heavenward to see that the true treasures of this life come in our encounters with majesty. May it be so just one more time Lord, just one more time that your name may be glorified not only on the lips of men, but in the hearts of men. Men and women so overcome by His presence that they simply fall to their knees and cry Holy, hardly daring to breath, not daring to move because the King of glory has come in. Open the gates of your heart and the King of glory shall come in.

Peace like a river ( do you have it?)
Posted by appolus on August 24, 2011
Do you have a peace that surpasses all understanding? The Scriptures tells us, and Jesus commands us to be ” anxious for nothing.” This is the entryway into a supernatural peace. Its an act of the will to obey the command of God. Obedience leads to faith and faith leads to obedience. Do you demonstrate this fundamental truth in your life? Do you walk in a supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding because you come before the Lord with everything but most especially, with a thank-full heart? Is it the Lord Jesus that guards your heart and mind? Or, is it your wife, your husband, your checkbook, your job, your military, your government? Do you allow yourself to be anxious?

I will awaken the Dawn
Posted by appolus on August 22, 2011
If you live long enough as a Christian, you will enivitably face many challenges. When we look at the life of King David, we see that he is challenged time and time again with every imaginable problem. The reason that the Psalms are so popular, thousands of years after being written, is that we see David’s heart as he goes through his trials. He faces death and illness and rejection and defeat. He also faces the challenges of sin that seperates him from His God. Sometimes all of these elements all come together at once and it threatens to sweep the believer away, the enemy indeed comes in like a flood.

Are you a believer, or are you Christ’s?
Posted by appolus on August 18, 2011
Oh the glory of Grace, Oh the majesty of mercy. I imagine Jesus counted out the number of all the men she had ever slept with. He told the lady at the well how many men she had been with, but there was only the two of them there when He did this. He had no intention of humiliating this woman that lay at His feet. Can I suggest to you that this position, at the feet of Jesus, for the humble and contrite, is the safest place in the world. He was not going to humiliate this woman any more , the self-righteous had done enough of that this day. You see when Jesus forgives us our sin, they are remembered no more. He does not seek to humiliate us, He seeks to restore us, to reconcile us to the Glories of our God and Father and so He rubs away the number of her lovers from the dust and it is no more. Her sin is hidden from the “believers,” that were still around. Jesus had exposed one bunch of hypocrites, He was just about to expose another group, the so called “believers.”

Are you an Overmountain man?
Posted by appolus on August 9, 2011
Will you stand in the evil day brothers and sisters? Have you forged your own independence from the world? Are you wholly dependent upon the Lord? Will you run to the enemy when he challenges the people of God? Now is the time to be forged in the fire, to be purified, to be purged of the dross of this world. For if this world has a place in your heart, when the letter comes that demands that you lay down and submit to the gods of this world, you surely will.

The debt crisis-Judgement upon America?
Posted by appolus on July 29, 2011
In Isa 19:1 we see that the “Idols of Egypt shall tremble at His presence. And the heart of Egypt shall melt in its midst.” Can I suggest that since 9/11 there has been an unleashing of fear in America. The people have had their foundations shaken, and they now suffer from unbridled insecurity. To be hit in the financial capital and the political capital was like being struck with arrows directly in the heart. It has left the people staggering and unable to find their footing. The near financial collapse of 2008 has only re-inforced that. Read the rest of this entry »

If My people……….? A word from a sister in Christ
Posted by appolus on July 28, 2011
If you look through this site, you will see that I have a very limited amount of people that I have included on the site. These would include A.W.Tozer, David Wilkerson, a dear brother in Christ I know who is a preacher, Brian Long and one other brother, brother Wayne. There are many reaons for that, not least is the fact that we live in an age of self-proclaimed experts, teachers and prophets. Rightly or wrongly, I almost always dismiss those who proclaim themselves to be prophets. I love the spirit of a man or woman who denies being a prophet even as they speak or write prophetically, this sits well with me and seems right to my spirit. This post is from a sister who would not like her name to be mentioned. She sent me this ” word from the Lord,” last year. I pray that it blesses you and cause you to think.
