50 year old prophecy from Tozer

PROPHETIC WORD FROM 50 YEARS AGO – A. W. TOZER

“Let me go out on a limb a little bit and prophesy. I see the time coming
when all the holy men whose eyes have been opened by the Holy Spirit will
desert worldly Evangelicalism, one by one. The house will be left desolate
and there will not be a man of God, a man in whom the Holy Spirit dwells,
left among them.

I hear Jesus saying…Mat 23:37-38: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing
the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her, how often would I have
gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her
wings, and you would not! Behold, your house is left to you desolate”

As the Church now stands, the man who sees this condition of worldly
evangelicalism is written off as somewhat fanatical. But the day is coming
when the house will be left desolate and there will not be a man of God
among them. I would like to live long enough to watch this develop and see
how things turn out. I would like to live to see the time when the men and
woman of God-holy, separated and spiritually enlightened-walk out of the
evangelical church and form a group of their own; when they get off the
sinking ship and let her go down in the brackish and worldliness and form a
new ark to ride out the storm”

    Thank you Bro Frank –

These souls of which Tozer speaks have seen something, something has touched them deeply, there is a deep, inner working out in the wilderness that others know little about. He has been teaching them like He taught His disciples long ago. They are intimate with Him in a way religious people cannot truly comprehend, They have rested their head on His bosom and they can feel what is in His heart. They cry alone, suffering many losses, betrayals, abandonments, confusion and they have sweat much blood in their walk with their Lord. There are few if any outward indications they are even there at all, some have a web site or blog perhaps, but the religious ones find nothing there for them. While the many talk and talk and learn over and over and over again about being saved, being born – they only want to know Him, to enter into His love and life so that they can know Him. While so many have merely a proof text, they have a testimony, they have a stone that has been rolled away. The life they now live is rooted and grounded and animated by the One who came into the world. There food is the meat of bloody experience where spirit touches bone. Milk no longer satisfies them. The fruit for the religious tree of knowledge no longer tempts them. They rather walk naked, free, unashamed, honestly and openly with their Lord and Life. While so many are always learning but never getting deeper, they have hone up to the third heaven, they have been changed forever. Their prayers are often washed in tears, they are tired of going on in themselves, in the power of the old creation. They love Him like a lover loves. They give all that a lover gives. They are one with Him like a lover is one. They answer to the new name He has given them. While fear drives the many – fear of hell, fear of death, fear of being wrong, they have entered the veil into His most perfect love. The law of their life, that which governs everything, is not list or code, but a living spirit, a heavenly principle, an abiding and shared heart. They leave to follow Him outside the camp, outside the walls, outside the world, and they join Him on that lonesome hillside, to be taught, to be fed, to be changed forever. They have no flag, no group, no kin, no affiliation, for they are orphans in this world. It is for these alone that He is coming. Oh Lord come quickly. amen.

Indeed brother. No affiliations and orphans of this world. The road gets ever narrower and the the climb becomes steeper the deeper that we walk into the Kingdom of God. Yet not a one of them would have it any other way. There is no way back , nothing to go back too, there is only forwards and onwards and upwards no matter what the road ahead holds ( praise God we can rarely see it) And just like everything else for those who have entered into the Kingdom and turned the world upside down, then up appears to the world as down. When they see trials and tribulations they see somehow failure and rejection. But our trials are the chisels blows. The great Sculptor is shaping us that we may rightly fit into one glorious temple, a dwelling place for our Lord. Who will yield to the chisel’s blows? Who will not run from trials and afflictions and persecutions? Who will embrace such a walk that against the blackest backdrop our little light shines out and testifies of His glory? Will ye yield Christian? Will you allow yourself to be shaped? Will you stretch out your own hands for the Master’s cause? Can you rejoice in the deepest valleys? The strongest blows ever against the enemies Kingdom is the joyful noise that arises from the deepest valleys. In a place where others weep and gnash and despair, the upside down man, the Kingdom man rejoices in His Lord and the devil is silenced, indeed Jesus prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. Have you oh Christian man sat at this table? It is the table of the Lord and goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our walk along the narrow way……………………..bro Frank

  3. Very powerful word from a prophet of God.

Brothers and sisters I believe I have your confirmation for such a word. I was thinking on Jeremiah yesterday how they refused to seperate themselves. They simply refused. They were taken into slavery, were they not. Those that call themselves followers of Chirst also are tken into slavery. Slaves to strange things. I can only hope and pray for all and continue sounding out the call. But what I see is that they are so attached to the strange things, the things not of God. Those familiar things have become like a god their attachment is greater than to God. They don’t hear the call right now let’s us hope they do. But keeping things in perspective it is a “remnant”. There were ten virgins and only five were found ready. His sheep hear and know. He will loose none !

  6. Revelation 3:1 And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars says these things. I know your works, that you have a name that you live, and are dead. 2 Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die. For I have not found your works being fulfilled before God. 3 Remember then how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

What a horrible thing this would be, for the Lord to know of your works, that they are not being fulfilled (faithfully completed in love) and tells you that even though you might call yourself a “born-again Christian,” that you’re really dead. He has withdrawn His life from you because you have defiled your garments. He forgave you and washed you in His blood so He could come afresh into you as His temple and you counted his blood as a common thing and chose to compromise your walk with Him by continuing in the flesh, trampling His sacrifice underfoot as you pursue carnal appetites while rejecting the convictions of the Spirit of Grace given you to empower you to be a overcomer.

In Jeremiah 23 the Lord asks a simple question, “What is the chaff to the wheat?” It is but an empty shell whereas the wheat is the very heart and meat for which both the sower and harvester labored. The chaff is fit only to be tossed to the wind and blown away, or as John the Baptist testified of Jesus, “He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire . . . He will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather His wheat into the garner; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” I am persuaded judgment has begun in the house of the Lord and will soon become more and more evident. Not upon those who have come out and separated themselves, but on those who claim to have a name that they are alive, and are yet dead). I fear the worthless salt is now being cast out to be trodden under foot by men for those who have taken the name of the lord in vain will not be held guiltless, just because they call themselves “born-again Christian” doesn’t make it so. Much of what will be called by many “Christian persecution” will actually be the Lord’s judgment on the apostate lukewarm.

Remember, “…and the bride made herself ready.”

1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

I wonder.. is this happening already? I see so many that can no longer find a home within the regular known denominational churches.

    Even so Lord, come quickly.

It has definately been happening for a number of years now Steffi. We just held some remnant meetings this summer and over the last several years have met saints from all the world at revival conferences we have held. We are in contact with hundreds of different small groups. The mainline denominations are bleeding badly and in Europe the picture is even worse. It is almost impossible for saints there to find good fellowship. I am involved with gospelfellowships.net which is creating contacts all around the globe so that saints can meet in at least twos or threes. This kind of fellowship is really important we believe as it seems very likely at some point in the relatively near future that persecution is coming to the saints in the west. God bless you sister……………bro Frank

I’m so happy to hear this. So many of us feel displaced, as though we can no longer in good conscience be a part of what has become of the “modern day evangelicalism”.

I once heard someone say that we should be careful when we speak ill of the church and call it corrupt. The Church is the Bride of Christ and Jesus loves His Bride fiercely. There are many tares among the wheat though.. many goats among the sheep and many wolves. The sheep are still there though.. THEY are the true church. The Bride of Christ is as beautiful as ever.

I’ll check out that website and thank you so much for sharing it with me. God bless you also!

HI Steffi, to me there is Christendom, that is everything that calls itself Christian. Then there is the Kingdom saints, the Remnant saints, the pilgrims or the sojourners, these are the Body of Christ and they walk in the Spirit. They have a grand obsession with Jesus. They are unashamed of their Lord and the Gospel for they know it is the power of God unto salvation. They entered the Kingdom by birth, the new birth, they are twice born. Once into this world that we see all around us with all of its systems and ism’s , and then born again , birthed into a new world where they are new creatures, behold everything is new to them. They walk in the Kingdom reality. They awake with the Lord on their hearts, they walk through the day with the Lord on their hearts, they lay their heads down at night with the Lord on their hearts. They love the word of God and they love the true and genuine fellowship of the saints………..bro Frank
