Do you live beyond the edge of hope?

Posted by appolus on March 31, 2011

To live beyond the edge of hope
Is to dangle daily from a rope
In a perpetual dance with death itself
Beyond this world and all its wealth

There is a world of blue and green
But to the dark eye its all unseen
A world of orange, red and yellow too
But from the rope its beyond all view

For from the rope there’s shades of grey
And sleepless nights and endless days
And every now and then some light
But just enough to confirm the night

There was a time I dangled from this rope
At the edge of hell and beyond all hope
I lived my life, just hanging there
Crushed and broken, suspended in the air

Then Jesus came and cut me down
He raised me up to wear a crown
A pauper raised to walk with kings
A voicless man but now who sings

Of all the glories of the Lord
Who came with Word and deed and sword
And conquered hell and death and sin
Restoring joy and hope within

Now all the world is bright to me
No matter what my eyes can see
No longer dangling from the rope
I walk with Jesus, I walk with hope

And above the clouds I know its true
The sun shines bright and the sky is blue
And when a shaft of light appears
It warms my heart and quells my fears

Now if your dangling from that rope
And this lie cries out, “there is no hope”
Cry out to the one who can cut you down
He will raise you up and you will wear a crown!

Hi Frank. This is awesome and something that we should routinely call to remembrance. We were once a heartbeat away from an eternity apart from God. But there was a moment when we realized our sinful condition and that Jesus had paid for that sin with his own innocent blood. Through faith in him, we now have eternal life and are a new creation.

Thanks so much for this writing. May we abide close to Jesus; always being mindful of the truth that we were bought with a price. Blessings always in Jesus name.

Hi Tim, I wrote it last week after looking into the eyes of someone I love dearly and seeing hoplessness. It reminded me of when I lived in that world and was delivered from it by my Lord Jesus. My heart breaks for those who dwell in this realm………..Frank

Brother Frank…..I have been in the United States, and have just gotten a chance to read this beautiful poem. This is a poem for the entire country of Mexico. This country is no longer a nation. It has become an enclave for the drug cartels. The one thing that these precious people need to cling to is hope. The hope that things is going to get better. And things will get better, but only when they focus thier hope on Jesus Christ, and him alone. I am going to read this poem to my house church here in this city. The word for the entire world today is HOPE. Bless you brother…..Robert

Dear brother, my heart and my prayers are with you as you follow our Lord Jesus and reach out to a people that dwell in darkness. I think of the Lord standing in the Temple and announcing, not only to those present, but to the darkness and to the world that He has come to set the captives free, to heal the broken-hearted, to restore the crushed hearts. He is the Light of the world and without Him there would only be darkness. God bless your house church, God bless you my brother………….Frank
