Arise and go down to the Potter’s house

Posted by appolus on April 12, 2013

Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My Words. Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he was working a work on the wheel. And the vessel that he made in clay was ruined in the hand of the potter; so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? says Jehovah. Behold, As the clay in the potter’s hands, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel. (Jer 18:2-6)
My question to the Lord’s children, the Lord’s Church, is, will you arise and go down to the Potters house? Will you come to the Father and place yourself in His hand? Will you allow yourself to be marred, to be ruined for this world? Can you abandon yourself to His wheel and allow Him to create in you what He will? For He will not force you , He will not make you, but He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Will you come to Him, with the fullness of your life, holding nothing back and allow Him to mar you, to ruin you? Will you step up to the door and open up your heart and allow the King of Glory to come in , in all of His fullness? Will you get up from the pig sty of lukewarmness and arise from the mire of entanglements and make your way back to the Father’s house? For those who heed the cry, who heed the command to arise, who harken to the knocking of the door, you will meet the Father of lights for He will see His children a far way off and He will run to them and rejoice to see His children have come back to Him. Oh prodigal church will you arise and go to the Fathers house, the Potters house? He is calling to you!

Oh my dear, dear brother – what searching, deep questions. I did appeal to Him to ruin me, and ruin me He did (He is still doing this in fact ). Everything went – 6 figure career, my beloved wife, my precious son every other week, every last shred of self-confidence that remained in me. Yes, yes, He must break you down completely before He can begin to form you anew in His Beloved Son. This is what it means to be in Christ, for Him to be our very life. No not only for a select few. We must come to the place in everything where our first impulse is “I cannot Lord”, and then He will ask – “Do you love me?”. And He will continue to ask until we have no answer for Him on ourselves. He can only be full in us to the proportion of our being emptied. The fullness of Christ is a zero-sum-game. Oh but how we have made it a hyphenated, supplemntary thing. Christ added to us, Chrost enabling us, Christ magnigying us. NO AND NEVER!

What does it mean to be ruined by the Potter, to be reduced down to a shapeless lump of clay ready for His Hands?

“Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, ‘Friends, haven’t you any fish?’ ‘No,’ they answered. He said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.’ When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.”

Does it mean solely that you are unable to do things that you could never do? Does it mean merely going beyond your ability? Well no actually. It means being reduced to zero (and even less than that) so even things you used to be able to do are now impossible without the Master’s touch. It is not about doing 60% and then praying the Lord will add the remaining 40% (How many sermons have you heard to this affect?). It is not like the new parent allowing the toddler to take a few steps before catching them as they begin to stumble. He must become the beginning and end in this spiritual life, the author and finisher, the very breath and vitality of it. Utter dependence, total reliance. Absolute emptiness. “Well that sounds so unamerican!” Well yes it is does and that is one reason for the utter absence of true spirit-touching-bone Christianity in this land. Be a better you, and millions will flock to that preacher and buy his new book. Be the women God intended you to be and millions of born-again women in this country will fall at her plastic surgery ministry.

Release your life as clay to the Potter, to the smashing work of His wheel and His hands, and most will abandon you. They will judge you. They will measure you as a spiritual failure.

Amen bro, Jesus, a Carpenter, was telling the Apostles, fishermen. to throw their nets, even although they had been fishing all night, just six feet in the opposite direction. Well, cmon, what could that possibly do? We have been doing this al of our lives and on top of that we have been fishing these waters all night long. Seriously Lord, just throw my nets six feet in the opposite direction and I m going to catch fish? And so, the Apostles, suspending doubt and all that they knew and how that they knew that nothing was going to happen, were obedient to the Lord and caught so many fish that they almost swamped the boat. Now brothers and sisters, in a day and age in the West where we see so few genuine radical conversions, the greatest miracles of all, we still go about business as usual. Same programs, same formats but no direct commands from the Living God. The Disciples had to be close enough to hear Jesus’ directions. And there lies the great crisis of our age and boats with no fish…………………bro Frank

Job, Jacob, Joseph, Jesus – are these merely exceptional (extreme examples not intended for everyone) or they templates defining what is the normative path from flesh (soul) to spirit? Dear ones, there is not one saint in the scriptures (old or new testament) who has not undergone this death to life experience. To die is gain. To be broken down, pulled outside of yourself, emptied, shattered, devastated, brought to extreme loss – this is not for just a select few. If you truly in your heart of hearts want to live as Christ, then this is the only way. It is called narrow and straight because it is bloody hard; it is a crucifying, piercing, mortifying experience. There is much pain and rejection associated with it and the many (probably even you reading these words) will refuse it and reject it. This all blessing and light theme resonating throughout Christianity is a cancerous fraud and a lie, and all those who have fallen for this will not stand when the shaking and purging comes to mark His return to this earth. The time of hymn-singing is coming to an end, maybe it is over already. Only those who have walked with Him on the other side will know His will and hear His voice when darkness and silence falls upon this earth. Job became an intercessor, a priest, for his friends, did you notice that, right at the end of the book. Joseph became a savior for his own, only after the pit and the prison. Jacob was brought to the very precipice of death, struggling terminally with the Lord before becoming Israel. He was never the same again. He never walked straight again. He was not simply a new man, a better Jacob, new and improved, wiser, more enlightened. He was something else.

Friends, put your books and sermon tapes down and go and have sincere and deep dealings with the Lord. If you have never done this, offer yourself as a living sacrifice, lay yourself down entirely, in absolute surrender and willingness. You will never learn in books what can only be learned by hanging in a cross. And you cannot learn this vicariously through the death-to-life experiences of others; it simply does not work that way. The testimony (of others) can get certainly you to your feet but it can never make you walk; it can break your heart but it can never pierce your soul! Only experience can do that that. Sheep to the slaughter, yes, but you must become one of the sheep. This is the only way to disarm the dragon forever. He wants to kill you and if you surrender your life, what else does he have? He tempted the Lord with everything He had sacrificed to the Father already (food, glory, self-preservation) – did you notice that?

“I am the Way” He said. Yes and do you really know what this means? There is no other way, it is a way that goes up (to a cross), down to the grave and to hell, then up again unto eternal life. Anything else is pablum, it is baby cereal, and you will never get your legs in Christ until you give Him your life as a free will, and whole offering.

He who tries to save his life will lose it.

He who lays it down will win it back again.

Amen brother…….How many of us are willing to be cut out of the old tree, but not truly grafted into the new tree? It is not enough to leave Egypt but then flounder in the desert. To embrace the desert and be thankful is the way out of the desert and into His rest. If we cannot embrace the desert then we become grumblers, people who look back to Egypt and become disobedient and unthankfull. Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. It is one thing to die to the world in which we came from, it is quite another to die to ourselves and have our flesh crushed and crucified………………bro Frank
