The trouble with the flesh.

The battle against the flesh is epic. Once we knock down and overcome its obvious ramparts it manages somehow to sneak up on us from behind and follow us in the shadows waiting patiently. Waiting for the insult or the injustice and it springs to our “defense” like a mighty Trojan horse filled with all manner of bile and poison. It pretends to be the antidote but it is truly the source of what ails us.

It sneaks in on me through chronic illness. When I am worn down from bearing pain and discomfort, the irritability rears it’s ugly head, and all that I think is sweet and Christlike gets swallowed up in my sin once again. It is very discouraging at times. I trust the Lord has a purpose in it . I have to remind myself ” Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of my faith”

I hear you Kimberly. I am in the same situation and I believe it is a higher level of sanctification. Pain elevates every aspect of sanctification. Coming to the conclusion that despite my pain I am still required to walk in holiness and according to His ways was quite a journey, and a journey I still walk. God bless you sister in your own walk. I know that you know that He is able to uphold us in all of this………………bro Frank

The spiritual battle is intensifying. I have been in a battle for some time now. I have been hearing from others who are in different circumstances but the same intense battle. It is daily … I must remind myself to die daily to self … and to keep living each day for Christ. Please pray for me … Saturday I am hosting a ladies Bible study on the covenant … in this wilderness place God has been showing me what being in covenant with Jesus really means. I know that the attacks are related to bringing down the message. Satan is firing darts but I have been led to know when we fight this war the victory has already been won. What you said to Kimberly is so true … it is a higher level of sanctification and it is very hard to face everyday in pain. I so want to please my Lord. We must encourage one another in this race …I thank you for all you do … to Jesus be the glory!

I think it was C.S. Lewis that made the comment ,”A man don,t know how bad he is, until has has tried with all his might to be good”I can certainly identify with that brother Frank. Good and sobering word brother.
