Power and the men who love it
Posted by appolus on November 16, 2019
Men who have power in Christendom, mostly pastors, will never recognize their need to radically change their ways. They love the power and anything that would change that will be violently opposed. For them it runs counter to multiple centuries of tradition. The truth is, for the most part, they love being important. It would be akin to the Hollywood stars who love the adulation of the crowds. Or the Pharisee who loves the best place at the table. The biblical form of leadership strikes at the heart of their vanity, it delivers a death blow to their pride. The departure from an elite group of leaders or one man power system is the radical nature of what the NT teaches. It is an absolute revolution against every part of the flesh.
The institution and the keepers of it will do everything to maintain their power. The Pharisees and the Sadducees and the scribes and the Herodians and the Romans all came together in the end to kill Jesus to maintain their order, and keep their positions, they were keepers of the status quo. It was decided by a disparate group of religious people and politicians that “it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.” A similar disparate group of religious people, and politicians will come to a similar conclusion about those who call for a sweeping away of the old in favor of the exclusive teachings of the New Testament. That group will morph into the great whore church, attended by the ranks of the fallen away. They will be the deadliest enemies of the remnant saints.

Brother Frank…….I am just now getting caught up on your post for the last couple of weeks. This post today nails it down perfectly as to what the problem is with the modern day church, it is simply power hungry men that call themselves pastors. If they were to sit in the congregation under the preaching of a real God called pastor, they would not sit there 10 minutes before they would get up and flee out the door. This post today ties right in with your post of November 11 that deals with the “gross darkness” that is coming upon the church, and the entire world, it is simply power hungry men that have replaced “Holiness hungry” shepherds, the true men of God that led the church up until this Laodician church age began. The end time is here brother Frank.

Indeed brother, these times are upon us and the birth pangs have begun. The Lord has His people and their mark is their love of the truth that has been placed in them by God Himself and the weep and they moan over the state of Christendom……………..bro Frank

We must hold fast … run our race with endurance. There will be a cloud of darkness and the saints given over … but only for a time. We must endure and not lose faith. Even surrounded in the darkness The Angel of the LORD camps around those who fear Him. (Psalm 34) We must not lose heart and be weighed down by the cares of this life or The Day will come suddenly like a trap … instead we must continue to watch and pray for strength to escape all things that are coming to past. Jesus said to “count the cost.”
As I do this I remember what lies ahead for those that endure to the end. I want to be part of those that endure … those that keep the faith. I am thankful for GOD’S chastening … I can say I am thankful for this wilderness place. It is a time where all is revealed … I can shed what is exposed and as I do I sense His pleasure in me. Easy? No … that is why it is called pruning. We must all die to self to be alive in Christ. He must increase while I must decrease.
GOD has not changed … He is our provision and our rear guard … and He has gone before us to be our guide through our own wilderness places. His Word is the very bread of life … and the Living Water that nourishes our souls. Indeed, there is yet a day coming which will be total darkness. It will surround all of us and the “tribes of the earth will mourn when Jesus comes with great power and glory.” BUT remember “ God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace are ye saved;) AND HATH RAISED US UP TOGETHER, AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS.” (Ephesians 2) This is past tense meaning … we are strangers and pilgrims here because Jesus delivered us from this evil world when He gave Himself for our sins (Gal. 1) Jesus is our Blessed Hope.
Though we walk THROUGH the valley of the SHADOW of death … it is only a shadow and our Shepherd leads us through this valley with His voice. Remember we are not of this earth … our citizenship is not here. The reality we see is not the real reality … what we can not see and yet we know to be true is the reality. Let GOD be true and all men liars … we are delivered from the power of darkness through Jesus Christ our Savior and LORD. This is the key … HE is indeed our Savior but HE must then become our LORD.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. SET YOUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE, NOT ON THINGS ON THE EARTH.” (Colossians 3:1-2) The scariest verses for me in scripture is what Jesus said, ““When the Son of man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8) and “Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.” ( Matthew 24:12) My desire is to remain strong in Christ and to do His exploits … those that wait on the LORD will regain their strength … His Word is true.

Doesn’t matter what kind of institution it is power has the potential to corrupt. Fame turns into a fleeting and additive pursuit.
However, I suppose if you ground yourself in something that is larger than yourself you will tend to be more grounded.
