The distance between the head and the heart.

There is roughly 12 inches between the brain and the heart. In the life of faith this distance is covered by actual experience. A faith untested is like a car never driven. The point of a car is to take us from one place to another, the point of our faith is to take us deeper into the heart of God. A car without fuel would be like a bird without wings. Faith without works is dead. The Holy Spirit is the wind that propels us forward. He is vital to forward motion. A sail boat without wind in the middle of the ocean is carried wherever the current takes it. In a mighty storm the wind drives the ships forward with great power. It certainly has the capacity to overwhelm but it also has the capacity to cover great distances and take us to places we may never have arrived at without it. The thing to remember in the midst of each storm is that if we fall upon God, we find that there is no storm that can swamp us.
