Who are the multitude from the Great Tribulation ?

Posted by appolus on May 31, 2013

Who is this great multitude that is referred to in Rev 7:9-16 ? So we see this great multitude, and they are standing before the throne of the Living God dressed with white robes and crying out praises to God who sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb. Can I suggest that this great multitude is God’s remnant children who, in all possibility, could be this very generation. Now I realize that this possibility does great damage to those of the pre-tribulation persuasion, but the truth is the truth.

Now, they are referred to as a multitude, but what does that really mean? We know that Jesus fed the multitude, is it just several thousand then? Is it the one hundred and forty-four thousand from the tribe of Israel? No. Scripture tells us that it is vast, million and millions, better described as ” a great multitude which no one could number of all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues.” Now these people are , obviously, from all over the world, from every town and every village and every city in the world. Now who are they? The elder answers his own question to John in Rev 7:14 ” These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Now in this context, this phrase ” washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb,” can only mean martyrdom. Now where can we find in Scriptures such a world-wide slaughter of the saints, such a large number that ” no one could number?” In Revelation 3:10 we see ” the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world,” and in Daniel 12, that great end time prophecy says ” And there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation.” And finally in Daniel 12:7 there is a time period referred to for persecution, and in that time period the power of the ” holy people,” will be completely “shattered.” Now this word shattered or scattered in the Greek is ” naphats.” It means to be ” dashed to pieces, scattered or dispersed.”

Brothers and sisters, are you ready to wash your robes and make them white by the blood of the Lamb? How are we told that we shall overcome the wicked one? Rev 12:11 ” And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” The devil has a short time left, the Son of man, the Bridegroom is coming back shortly for His bride and devil knows it. This is why a worldwide persecution of the saints is coming upon us soon, for the time is short. Yet, the devil is going to run head-long into a people prepared by the Lord through many trials and afflictions, refined by many fires, having been brought through many deserts, shining bright and loving not their lives unto death. They will reflect, in the very midst of the great tribulation, the glory of God in every nation, every tribe, every peoples and every tongue so that in martyrdom, they are a witness to every single person on the planet of God’s glory. In this sense, God’s glory will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea in the very midst of judgement. Hab 2:14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
